I was talking to a friend about one of the challenges I still needed a book for (10.1 - set in Africa) and he mentioned two he thought would work if graphic novels counted. I ended up explaining some of the rules to him and he challenged me to fill as many tasks as possible with graphic novels because there was so much more to them than just superhero stories (I already knew this, but I admit that's not usually my go-to when looking for books). So, I threw out the plans I had already made and started looking for graphic novels to fill in all the 5-10-15 point tasks and any other tasks that permitted their use (so far, just 20.6 and 25.1, but we're still waiting for two tasks that could include them).
With his help I've found at least one graphic novel for every task except 15.6 (the onomatopoeia list). We've been staring at that list for days and neither of us can find a graphic novel to fit.
Anyone have an idea? I'm limited by what I can find in local libraries since he's already exhausted his collection, but I'm willing to hit the superhero genre to fill this last spot.
ETA: I found one - just need to hope the wait list at the one library that has it isn't too long.... Just in case, I could still use suggestions for alternatives.

My goal is also modest. My goal is to get 300 points as well.
If I can do that, I will be very happy. I have been trying to do this since 2016. I would like to "last" the entire Winter without getting overwhelmed and quitting.
I have a lot of books on my TBR challenge that are in the 450-500 pages range that I always avoid because I try to read as many short books as I can to get maximum points, or if I am going to read a longer one, i choose an over 500 pages one to get the BB ticket. So I have decided for this challenge to tackle those books and not worry about my point total.
Heather(Gibby) wrote: "I have a lot of books on my TBR challenge that are in the 450-500 pages range that I always avoid because I try to read as many short books as I can to get maximum points, or if I am going to read ..."I did this last season. It was a rough start to the challenge for me so once I got behind where I knew it would take a ton of work to catch up, I just decided to not try and finish that season. I took the opportunity to read some of the large books I tend to avoid, as well as books I own that I knew might not work for me and I would end up DNF'ing, so it didn't feel like a waste of time.
I've been torn about short vs long books also. I didn't realize how competitive I am until I started doing challenges like this. So I took on short books when possible. However, I have always preferred long books in general. I just checked and this year my favorites have been Cloud Cuckoo Land, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, The Overstory, Sea of Poppies, Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World, Project Hail Mary, Nolyn, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - all near or over 500 pages. Many of the short books I read I have already forgotten about. I also found that if I am interested in them, I can read a long book pretty quickly. So I am going to try to set aside length and read what appeals to me.
I have loads of longer but not Big books on my shelves and have put several into tasks I will see how it goes but my start is incredibly slow
Winter 2021 is my first Challenge & I was hoping initially to get maybe 250 points, I have already surpassed that so thought maybe 50% would be achievable. I passed that last week so I am now wondering if I can make it to 75% of the available points?
There is no way I will manage 100%, but is 75% too much to push for as a newbie???

Hi guys! Im new and just started my first Spring 2022 challenge! I love this challenge its pushing me to read more books and discover new books when i saw people's current reads! Idk but i think im pushing to 50% of points! Hope the reading streaks last the year lol
I've done the SRC for many years but got sidelined this season with a stroke and 2 heart attacks. I can tell that the stroke messed with my brain because I have the hardest time just sticking to a book and remembering what I already have read.So my personal goal this time around is to complete 1 task!

Sheila! Gosh, but I am sorry. The road back to reading may be tough, but you can do it. I love your goal. My thoughts and prayers and hopes for all healing are winging your way. Blessed be.

My thankfulness for being allowed a new life knows no end.
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Physical ailments can be tiring but people tend to forget that along with the physical problems come mental issues. Keep your chin up and stay strong Shelia, you are in my thoughts

I do always enjoy reading all the great tasks everyone comes up with. I'm just not used to NOT reading. 3 books so far this year and that is a big deal for me.
Shelia, I have not had the physical challenges you have undergone, but the death of my husband hit me especially hard mentally. I found that my ability to concentrate on reading just wasn't there. And, I could no longer read the books I loved...those involved mysteries. My speed went down considerably, too. I, also could not do the multiple books that I was used to juggling at the same time.He has been dead 5 years. I am just now getting back to reading like I used to do. Take your time. Do what you can. Enjoy what you do. My heart goes out to you.
Bea wrote: "Shelia, I have not had the physical challenges you have undergone, but the death of my husband hit me especially hard mentally. My poor hubby has had to pretty much take over all the household chores although I am getting pretty darn good at using my walker. I've been doing a lot of therapy since getting out of my 3 month stay at the hospitals.
I was like you. Always had 2 or 3 books going at the same time. Now I mostly use audio and listen to 1. Often having to repeat tracks to "get it" I get a good bit "read" on my 3 trips to the hospital for therapy every week. I actually am quite optimistic that I will come out of this in good shape someday
Oh and I just met my SRC goal for the summer and posted my 1 task. I am on my way to finishing a 2nd one!

I should finish listening to Winter Prey by John Sandford during my drive to the hospital and back for my rehab this morning and then I am reading Twisted Lies by Angela Marsons. Both of those are series that I really enjoy. I am SO happy to be able to "read" again.

For me, it is where my reading began.
One of My goal is to read as many different books that I missed out reading as a child. My other goals are to read as many different genres as possible
One of my goals is to get through a season without making any errors. It hasn't happened yet in 2 years.

It’s been a while—I’ve been MIA for the past month and a half for a few reasons, including some exciting changes in my family! I know there’s only about a month left in this challenge, but I’m hoping to be more involved in the spring challenge (on top of teaching, master’s classes, and life in general). My goal is to read two books a week or at least complete half of the challenge.I’m looking forward to hopefully conquering the full challenge in the summer when I have more time to dive into books. Can’t wait to catch up!
