Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix question

Well, Umbridge has a direct impact on the characters "on screen" while Voldemort shows little of his cruelty apart from the very last book.
It seems plausible to me that you would dislike her more as she's one of those bittersweet villains who play nice but are cruel to the very core. Also, like I said: you can read more about what she does than about the stuff Voldemort does or did.
Of course Voldemort is horrible, but you get told most of the time rather than you can read about him actually doing something. With Umbridge it's a whole different matter.

i feel that the the main reason Umbridge was so easily hates was because she wasnt a typical villan... she was evil but she didnt know she was. She thought that what she was doing was acceptable behavior to achieve the greater good which mad her even more dangerous.

My opinion is that I believe Umbridge should have been taken out of the books completely because she's so horrible and when I read what she was doing to harry I wanted to throw my book across the room (of course I didn't because you can't do that to a a book as sacred as Harry Potter, can you now?)

There are just those characters where it seems like they should be on the good side because they claim to be, but when they start doing everything they shouldn't you just hate them. It's like at the end of Goblet of Fire and Fudge is just the biggest idiot in the world. That's exactly how I felt about him, as well as Umbridge. They have the power to stop Voldemort, but they aren't doing anything. I feel like they are worse than the antagonist himself.

She is so EVIL! I hated her so much!

I so totally hate her more than Voldemort.

Welcome to the club

Umbridge hid behind this mask of purity and righteousness. Voldemort everyone knew was the bad guy. Umbridge didn't do such horrible things, but she did a lot of things that were almost just as bad.

To sum it up, Umbridge was a lot worse. Actually, in the sixth book you start feeling sorry for Voldemort.

Voldemort was evil and he knew it and everybody knew it.
Umbridge was evil and acted like a nice lady with her kittens and pinky stuff.

Umbridge is just the big bad wolf that everyone hates. I absolutely despise her character but I guess that's what J.K rowling was going for.

Ha ha.. I thought i was unique in hating her more than Voldemort!
