Chris Almeida (chrisalmeida) | 29 comments Hi,

I just noticed that two people have placed reviews on one of our books that has not been released not even in ARC format. The curious thing is that the ratings for the unreleased titles is the same as they both entered for the released title. I wonder if they did that by mistake.
My question is, is there a way to alert people that it is a mistake since they couldn't possibly have read the book yet?

Thanks,

Chris

Librarians have no control over ratings, so this is the wrong group for this. It comes up in the Feedback group frequently (a recent one), but here's GR's official position on the issue:
Goodreads policy allows users to rate a book as soon as it is listed on the site. While most users use the star-ratings to review a book, some like to use the rating system to indicate interest or excitement in an upcoming title. We view this as a valid use of the site. Generally, when users rate a book that has not yet come out, other users take the rating with a grain of salt. If you feel this user is being abusive in other ways, please let us know and we’ll look into the matter further.
