M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I fink that my kindle keyboard works really well ... Wow I'm going to leave that spello on there ... I really like my kindle but it's an e ink screen so it actually does have the same kind of mental connection as reading a book. But there's no point in buying one of the glorified tablet, colour screen ones as then it is just another computer and there's no point.

That said, yes, I still buy things like gardening books in dead tree format because you need a real book for anything with colour diagrams and a lot of them are bigger than a standard paperback so the kindle version is too small.

Swings and roundabouts ...

You wouldn't have to use wifi all the time. You connect, download and then turn the wifi off.

Cheers

MTM

T4bsF (Call me Flo) (time4bedsaidflorence) I know what you mean Jim. Whenever I wanted a Nursing book - they were very expensive and so many of them - being specialised topics - weren't available on Kindle anyway, but the ones that were, weren't hot on diagrams.

Jim | 21813 comments And now the sixth of the Port Naain Intelligencer stories is available!

Keeping Body and Soul Together

"Rescuing random strangers on a whim may be the good deed for the day, but will Benor survive the blood feud he has unwittingly become part of. More importantly can he buy back the victim’s soul?"

Sounds to me like a tough day at the office. Benor mixes with Urlan killing machines, seriously dangerous ladies and of course, Mutt comes along for the ride as well

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Isn't it time you put up another sales link JIm, for those of us late to the party?

message 4626: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments That's true will

Keeping Body and Soul Together is available from

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keeping-Body...

and other ebook vendors

Rescuing random strangers on a whim may be the good deed for the day, but will Benor survive the blood feud he has unwittingly become part of. More importantly can he buy back the victim’s soul?

message 4627: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Interested to see it at 0.98 rather than 0.99!

(Bought it, by the way)

message 4628: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments You know me, go the extra mile to achieve good value for my readers :-)
(No, I don't know why either)

Oh and Tallis has been writing again
https://tallissteelyard.wordpress.com...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Thanks, Jim. I shall spend the spare penny on something nice for myself. That, or invest it wisely, haven't decided yet.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It cost me £1.01.

Chris Robb (chrisrobb) | 1408 comments Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "It cost me £1.01."

Will owes you a penny, then you need to track down the other person who got it for £0.98 and recover your other penny, then balance and harmony will be restored.
Go now, my child on this quest I set you and right a great wrong.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I suspect the other penny went to the Irish Government. They need it, the poor sods....

message 4633: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Tallis Steelyard, the man who's so socially aware he's inadvertently rescuing governments he has never heard of!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments He would probably like it here. They don't charge you tax if you are an artist (up to €50,000 anyway)

message 4635: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments At one point there was a lot of English writers moving to Ireland, at least the successful ones :-)

message 4636: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments This time I got a mention rather than Tallis :-)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'll permit you to doff your cap instead, what with you being a farmer and everything. :-)

Jim | 21813 comments Just in passing, I've got a short story published in SciFan™ Magazine May 2017 (by short I mean that it's only 1500 words)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SciFanTM-Mag...

Night Hunter - by Jim Webster
“Who better to hunt the undead than those whose life is already over?”

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oooh exciting!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Nice going, I hope some of them decide to buy a few books! ;-)

message 4647: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Yes, I rather hope that :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Just heard that the name 'Webster' originally meant a female weaver. The male version would have been 'Webber'. 'Baxter' would have been a female baker...etc. etc.

message 4649: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Apparently it's the norman french term for the trade. It might even have been the person who threaded the loom so the weaver could weave (but that sounds a bit too specialist to me)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Would the webster be looming over the loom?
