Yes, it seems that Tallis and his reminiscences are rather popular amongst bloggers.
He's more in demand than I am, so I'm clinging desperately to his coat tails as he cuts a swathe through high society

Jim | 21813 comments And I've just realised why I haven't written much extra in the book. In the last seven days I've written over 6,000 words for Tallis Steelyard!

Can't he write his own words?

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Well, if you (or Tallis) want to drop anything at www.facebook.com/gjreillybooks please feel free. I don't have a great many followers, but there are a good few who may be interested in hearing from you both!

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments That's probably her next door neighbour.

What do you mean 'even'?

I'm perfectly respectable!

message 3959: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments 'Even' as opposed to 'odd' I assume...

message 3960: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments It's getting to something when you tiptoe backwards out of your own author thread lest you get caught in the blast.
I've sent for Tallis, he should be along at any moment
Pour wine

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Jim | 21813 comments Written a squid thing for Tallis :-)

He's found his voice and damn well won't shut up!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't know why we're so kind to him, really.

I think we shouldn't be.

message 3968: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Will he be able to tell the difference??

message 3969: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't think we could be other than kind.

Extremely sarcastic is kind, innit?

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments I think Baccus would blush at the amount and variety of wine available through this thread ... Bring on the bard!

message 3971: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Well I sort of promised some of it would out through other people's author threads.
And then I thought I'd put some aside so that when I do the 'complete Tallis' (Lord alone knows what I'll call it) there'll be some stuff in that people haven't seen.

message 3972: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I took the liberty of pouring the entire Tallis oeuvre into a word document and discovered to my shock that there is over 31,000 words!

message 3973: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments He's verbose.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Talks more than Geoff....

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Tallis, perhaps. Geoff? Ummmm

message 3978: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm sure Geoff has hidden depths, writes poetry and wears a cape when out shopping

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments *shudder* worse than sand, that ... I'd imagine ... :-D

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The only g-string I have is on my guitar.

message 3985: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments What do you do with the old ones, GL? Bet you could sell 'Used G String' on ebay...

message 3986: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You're gross, Will.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Its probably how he makes a living, Patti. Will's Used G-string Shop.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments One on every High Street in Wales. On the weekends, anyway.
The drunken tattooed ladies shed them like snake skins.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Means the street cleaners need to wear full hazmat gear.

message 3990: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments If they're sensible, yes.

message 3991: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments perhaps having A Much Arranged Marriageis a good thing, makes it safer for street cleaners, boosts public order and generally makes the traditional Welsh (and doubtless various other) high streets safer and healthier places?

message 3992: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments GL, Jim thinks plugging his book is gonna interrupt our conversation!

How very dare he?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments maybe we can use it to plug a gap somewhere...

message 3994: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No amount of cork will shut Tallis.

message 3995: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Mind you, when you remove the cork and pour him a glass of a decent wine, he will taste it in reverent silence

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And then see what happens when you tell him he's paying!

message 3997: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "And then see what happens when you tell him he's paying!"

I don't think you quite understand the purpose of a poet.
They happily buy wine and will drink to your continued good health and prosperity all day long.
They don't expect you to buy them wine. (After all could they rely on your good taste with regard to which wine to buy.) They merely expect you to give them money

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ah. Poet = Money Pit

message 3999: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments That's the one, it's a comparatively inexpensive way of ensuring a regular supply of verse, compliments and general best wishes.
Cheaper than having a birthday every day

message 4000: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments In my rapidly extending experience of the breed, most poets would settle for receiving several drinks and a large, spiked weapon to use on their competitors.
