Jim | 21813 comments It tried (obviously not a full novel) but the limit is 256 characters

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I will happily be a Thread Title Editor. My rates are very competitive.

message 3853: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Better put that in your thread title :-)

IT tried. It did not succeed.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Excellent cover!

message 3860: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Make that three. Excellent cover, Jim.

message 3861: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments AUK are brilliant with covers. It's one reason I've stayed with them. 'Nobody does it better' :-)

message 3862: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Nice bacon!

Cover. I mean cover.

message 3863: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments you could always wrap your bacon in the old newspaper and cut it with the knife if you were that way inclined

message 3864: by David (new)

David Hadley I like that cover.

message 3865: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments With or without added bacon?

I confess to being rather fond of it myself, but I'm glad people like it because my cunning plans involve people seeing an awful lot of it ;-)

message 3866: by David (new)

David Hadley Things are always better with bacon.

A good book - which that one undoubtedly is - would go down rather well with a bacon sandwich.

message 3867: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I thought I'd let Tallis make the announcement.
This might not have been an entirely good idea

https://tallissteelyard.wordpress.com...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Tallis seem to have got rather out of your control Jim. Send him down to my dungeon and I'll sort him out for you!

message 3869: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments He's a poet, what can one expect?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments He would be spouting verse while on the rack, I suppose...

message 3871: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments At the very least you'd be the victim of some very cutting limericks

Great, Jim. Does Tallis do reviews? :~)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I am well used to limericks! I would riposte with a well honed haiku or two.

I'm not sure I've got the nerve to ask him.

He'd almost certain review poetry, and probably prose.

Perhaps I ought to ask him.

Pat () | -245 comments Got it! Off to read it!

message 3877: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Hope you like it Pat.

Pat () | -245 comments Finished! I LOVED it!! How do I get the Tomb Yard Follies? It's not on Amazon.

message 3879: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Pat (Scorpio) wrote: "Finished! I LOVED it!! How do I get the Tomb Yard Follies? It's not on Amazon."

I'm afraid you've got to wait four months for tomb-yard follies :-(

I'm afraid that AUK made the mistake of putting that one on the back rather than Flotsam or Jetsam

message 3880: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments OK so I'll announce it. A Much Arranged Marriage has now been published.

It is available from all the usual suspects, nook etc as well as Amazon.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Much-Arranged...

Benor is asked to help warn off a blackmailer who appears to be threatening a young girl's chances of marriage. But the deeper he digs, the more dangerous things become.

message 3881: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments And because I'm a good boy I think I've got the group ending on the amazon link so money goes to the group

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Am I the first to acquire a copy of this?

It seems Pat's not only aquired it, but has already read it

message 3884: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Dedication! I need readers like that, too.

Everybody needs a Pat ;-)

message 3886: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've just bought it and read it too - and you can read my interview with the author here http://www.kathmiddletonbooks.com/blo...

message 3887: by Jim (last edited Dec 01, 2015 02:38AM) (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Thanks Kath
Perhaps I write excellent female characters because I know so many excellent female characters ;-)

message 3888: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I hope you do! I feel that some of our celebrated writers, Dickens and Tolkien for example, write either caricatures or women who are as wet as a bucket of water. They aren't like my friends - but yours are!

Aww. That's not a mistake, that's advanced marketing! Shall await it's release with baited breath.

Jim | 21813 comments Having lived with a Mother, Sister, Wife and Three daughters I suspect that I've seen a fair range :-)

(edited to add that even the dog is a bitch :-) )

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I've bought it too, but for some reason my post didn't come out!

Cheers

message 3893: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I have a copy. Just purchased, not yet read.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments David wrote: "I have a copy. Just purchased, not yet read."

Moi aussi.

message 3895: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I had to google that. Thought you were claiming to be Australian.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I had a private bet with myself that someone would say that!

message 3897: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Damn! Just label me predictable.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments But still lovable :)

message 3899: by G J (Gaff to my friends) (last edited Dec 01, 2015 05:00AM) (new)

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Not having had any lessons in French ... ever ... I had to look it up too. I love online translations of things e.g:

Unions are concerned - and, frankly, so am I - that downsizing could negatively affect safety.

(from http://en.bab.la/dictionary/french-en...)

Context is so important. Unfortunately, I now have an entire class of year 7's who believe that Moi aussi means "Unions are concerned - and, frankly, so am I - that downsizing could negatively affect safety" and that two words of French can say soooo much! :-)

That'll teach me not to leave my projector on while I catch up on Goodreads and they're on task!
