I've been looking for one for years, apparently; I just never realised.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments One of my ex boyfriends had one of those.

He still never accomplished anything.

message 3754: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments A mate of mine also had a long felt want

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments A what now?

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Shouldn't that be a Long Stand, Jim?

Jim | 21813 comments Will wrote: "Shouldn't that be a Long Stand, Jim?"

That was a common one used in the Yard for cocky apprentices. Send them to the stores to ask for a long stand.
They got one :-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments They're kept next to the buckets of steam.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments And the tartan paint.

Sorted by clans, I assume?

I don't think I've let go of my first one yet.

David Hadley I remember round tuits from uk.rec.sheds back in the days of newsgroups.

They may even have originated there.

message 3763: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments And now a shock, I know I've written a story for an anthology of romance (Allowing one person to comment, "It's Romance Jim, but not as we know it)

But now I'm being promoted as a romantic poet as well

http://www.readwave.com/themes/love-p...

Do I have to grow my hair long again!

message 3764: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That's was Jim's way of bragging that he has hair.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "That's was Jim's way of bragging that he has hair."

Well who can tell, with that flat cap on his head all the time?

message 3766: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You can tell by the sideburns.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Doesn't mean theres anything on top.

message 3768: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Pah
With my long flowing hair, and probably a cape, I'll be the toast of impolite society!

message 3769: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I might even have mustachios to twirl

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim wrote: "I might even have mustachios to twirl"

Ah. This would be your alter ego, Lauderdale?

message 3771: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments No, I'm afraid Lauderdale is far too dapper and well dressed. Pin stripes, bowler hat, tightly rolled umbrella. Brisk, efficient, and carrying a briefcase

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Doesn't he have a wild side?

message 3773: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Lauderdale is an oasis of civilisation wherever he goes. A small force for order in a chaotic universe.

He hires people to do the wild side

message 3774: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments But rumour has it he has been known not to always wear a wing collar

message 3775: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Jim is more of a sheepskin type, I suspect.

message 3776: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments With the wool on the outside or the inside?

message 3777: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I did stick a Tallis story on Readwave
http://www.readwave.com/travel-as-see...

I'm pondering how to use Readwave to advantage. It looks as if a story is over 800 words it doesn't get put 'on the front page'. By this I assume it means it cannot be 'trending'

Jim

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hello! I finished Justice 4.1 yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that... sometime recently. It was bloomin' marvellous (that's the extent of my casual swearing). Now I don't know what to follow it up with, other than war 2.2 of course.

well obviously I'd suggest War 2.2 :-) which comes with glowing reviews

message 3780: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Oh and just to say that I'm glad young one is leaving you with time to read anything :-)

message 3781: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's little enough time! I could do with a bit more.

message 3782: by Jim (last edited Oct 29, 2015 03:03PM) (new)

Jim | 21813 comments You wait until your reading consists of one one particular mister men book, doing all the voices, over and over again :-) (Or at least it seemed like that at the time :-) )

If I'd thought I'd have recommended that you read Justice 4.1 as the bedtime story ;-) Start as you mean to go on

message 3783: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments And a blog post from Tallis

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Jim, your Urbane Gorilla just wouldn't let go...!

message 3785: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments now you've got me frantically looking for the spelling mistake!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Ah, sorry! No I tried to tag you on Facebook but couldn't - I've done a drawing...
Didn't spot any spelling mistoks :)

message 3787: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Normally when people tag me I get message saying do I want to be tagged and add it to my timeline

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments You just weren't there as an option :(

A few other Jim Websters came up but I didn't like the look of any of them.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments You're fussy about your Jim Websters?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Very particular, yes!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments There are some sub-standard ones out there - you're wise to be careful and make sure you get the deluxe model.

Jim | 21813 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "Jim's Facebook settings are mean."

They're open and cuddly to what they once were. I had a facebook account for several years because as a freelance journalist I kept finding leads disappearing onto facebook.

I had a facebook page which nobody could even find when searching for it :-)
