Jim Webster, (In On a Chance! )

I got into the top twenty for the sub-genres (Science fiction military and Science fiction space opera)and stayed there for three days both on .com and .co.uk. And of course Number 1 in Germany
Since the 2nd of April there have been no sales of Justice 4.1, which I suppose you can expect.
There have been three sales of War 2.2in the UK, none on .com or .de. Given previous rate of sales, there should have been one, perhaps two in the UK.
The one sale I do know about that is attributable to the promotion is from a friend on Facebook who decided to risk the first book because it was free, read it and very much enjoyed it so bought the second.
I think I can guarantee that over 90% of the freebie copies downloaded will not have been read yet. My guess is that it's probable that somewhere between 50% and 80% of the freebie downloads won't ever be read.
So.....
I'm hoping I'll see a trickle of sales of the second book as the free download gets read. I'm not sure whether I'll notice it or not.

I've a vague hope that it'll get me some sales in the US

This is the second of the Jim's Tsarina Sector books and follows on from Justice 4.1. The titles of both books give away the fantasy nature by the use of computing speak, implying that the scenarios in both books are a re-imagining of the concepts of War and Justice in a future or different world. Although I'm not a huge fan of war or fantasy books, I do love good characters and complex political shenanigans. Where these work well they will always draw me in because I find out more about people and societies in the process - we can often draw similarities with the world we live in and the people we know.
Jim's characters are well-rounded, not in any psychological sense but rather in that they are complete - you could imagine them standing next to you having a conversation with you - although you might feel that this wouldn't be the safest thing to do with some of them! This is essential when it comes writing fantasy because the reader has to see something believable. Overall, it's a good book and worth reading.

As I was working I thought of a blog post

So many people have commented or liked it I'm wondering whether I now have to write more about Lauderdale. I can see him as the hero in a Buchanesque steampunk setting :-)

A well placed word is all it takes......

Sold five books in last two days
All different, wonder if I've got another person who read one and wants to buy the rest

I warned him not to stand so close to the edge.

I warned him not to stand so close to the edge."
Specially after The Edge fell off the edge!

Yes, there has to be a breeding colony somewhere!

Perhaps all my sales from 2012 have suddenly happened now?

If you go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swords-Dead-L... you'll see an new edition of Swords for a Dead Lady
I'm not advising people to buy it, it's still the same book. But if you look at the Look Inside feature, there's now a MAP!
Question for Patti? Obviously I've mentioned it here. I don't particularly want to spam, but where else can I mention it on the group, literally just as a public information notice
