Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'm just impressed I beat GL to a link.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't claim to always come first...

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments That's class. A great ad.

message 3008: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments lol, that's a funny ad.

message 3009: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments There are some adverts where you feel almost obliged to try the product but are afraid you won't enjoy it as much as the advert

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Most of the adverts I enjoy I couldn't actually tell you what they're advertising, to be honest. I don't pay that much attention.

message 3011: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments It has to be said that with not watching TV I did rather miss the better adverts. But now somebody can be relied upon to put them on facebook :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments That's generally how I see them too. I only watch Beechgrove Garden and that's on BBC so no ads. And it was the last one tonight till next year *sniff*

message 3013: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Tells you everything you need to know about the quality of TV doesn't it

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Is this guy any relation to Benor?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5nIs...

message 3015: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Yep, one of the best ads. Come to think of it, I haven't had a Snickers for ages - so it works too.

Now, if Mr Bean could be persuaded to advertise our books...

That's the way to do it.
Can you imagine them letting him take a kiddy up with him nowadays!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments There would be ructions!

message 3018: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Thought I better blow the dust off!

Just to say that http://www.trip.me/blog/wp-content/up... has inspired a scene from a Benor mystery :-)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Ah ah ah chooooo!

Those boats look a little too modern for Benor.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yeah - he might want to edit them out!

Is that a cobweb up in the corner?

http://favershamcreektrust.files.word...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You need to borrow Tim's Hoover.

I've sent the maid in to clean them out

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Don't let Patti get her hands on that!! The whole group will go up in flames.

message 3025: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Nah, she's so busy looking for old threads she'll not come in here

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I wouldn't bet on it. She creeps around in the early hours of the morning looking for curtains to burn....

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I've changed to blinds, myself

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Will wrote: "I've changed to blinds, myself"

Sensible Will.

message 3029: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I didn't want my thread closed down because of the sheer amount of asbestos

message 3030: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Asbestosis is a myth created by lefty liberal treehuggers intent on damaging the economy. There is no evidence of a direct causal link...

Oh wait, that's Fracking, sorry...

message 3031: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments "All those in favour of renewable energy go over there and live in those houses where the power goes off when there's no wind or sunlight.
Those in favour of nuclear go across there and live next to the nuclear reactor"

To late, we already do

message 3032: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Anyway 2,700 words done today

You can't - it's accreted into the cupboard.

A real one, on paper? ;-)

message 3036: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Several of those lately, actually.

I'm doing something called 'Literature Circle' with the ten olds, where we read a book together as a group and do various activities and hold book discussions as we go along.

Four different groups, one novel each group, new book every two or three weeks.

The groups choose the book themselves from a selection I've collected for
them.

They're enjoying it immensely and we're getting some great discussion on all sorts of topics but it means I'm having to pre-read a great many books before presenting them.

message 3037: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments That strikes me as an interesting idea. I'll pass it on to a friend who has a youth group

message 3038: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments There are teaching resources and YouTube videos that show how it's done.

If he's interested, let me know and I'll email you some links n such.

message 3039: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I do have female friends you know :-)

message 3040: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ha!

More than one!

Okay then. He/she.

English really does need a gender neutral singular pronoun.

I suggest 'biffle'.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I prefer 'nonk'.

message 3042: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments One syllable is probably better.

message 3043: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Ursula le Guin always used Heshe as one word, I recall

message 3044: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I rather like s/he - but I can't remember where I first saw it.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Don't people generally just use "they" now?

message 3046: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments That's seems a bit rude if there's only one of them around, Rosemary

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Indeedy. I don't like it, but I suppose it's less awkward than picking the wrong gender?

message 3048: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I read something recently about using 'they' as a singular pronoun.

Did one of you lot post something about it on Facebook?

Can't say I like s/he. Looks weird.

message 3049: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, you've met him/her? ;)

message 3050: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hehe.
