The original four had already formed when I came on the scene, and you don't want to break up an established band with a good back catalogue so really I've had a solo career

Every so often I mention one of my books and a little ray of sunshine illuminates the thread.
Even less often someone says they've bought a copy and the who thread coruscates and scintillates in a way that is wondrous to behold
Persons of proven quality have been heard to gasp when it happens

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) Congratulations!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm thinking peanut butter toast if I can find a bread crust, a match and a hammer.

May have to check down the back of the armchair as well.

message 607: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) Sounds like you're set. I personally store food in my cupboards, but I am strange like that.

message 608: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Cupboards here are empty.

I lie.

There's a lonely tin of creamed corn and some half burnt birthday candles.

message 609: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) Well they'll make a very interesting birthday cake.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments After the stuff I wrote yesterday I thought I was going a bit mental. Now I know that actually, I'm quite sane.

Went to a corporate do last night. Put on the last remaining black tie outfit I can get into. Gave McMini a good by hug and ripped it right open up one side and one seam. Luckily it's a jacket so I did a few emergency tacks to hold it together and on we went. When we got there I gesticulated a bit enthusiastically and threw half a glass of wine over the man next to me.

Here's the amazing thing. NOBODY MINDED.

Hmm...

cheers

MTM

Jim | 21813 comments How is it that my nice clean tidy thread, a beautifully maintained thread (I mean, look at the architraves. And be honest, you don't get elegant Ionic columns like these in other threads either. And when was the last time you saw quality Carved Acanthus Corbels?)
Anyway as I was saying, how come my thread, destined by nature to be the place where persons of nice discrimination can peruse my fine works of literature and secure them on tendering a small payment is first hijacked as the porn thread and now seems to serve as some sort of itinerant home for the cheerfully insane?

A new author for me. I was delighted to be drawn into this tale. It unfolds giving depth and strong characters, plenty of action, with all the twist and turns you could wish for. Very well written, I enjoyed it immensely.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Nice concise review. Great those 5 stars, aren't they?

message 620: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Oh yes, quite inspired me to dust the old thread down a bit, polish the corbels, dust the sexfoils and put a final coat of plaster on the noggin

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I like those heavy velvet curtains. Just don't tell Patti.

What are sexfoils? I'm thinking foil is a kind of film, and it's alluding to another seventies film night.

No worries, I'll just move amongst the throng with a tray of sweet sherry and an order form for my books. I reckon that if the sherry is cheap enough I might just turn a profit.
