well you hear these rumours.
Not that I'm one for gossip mind.
But it makes you think...

message 504: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) I tend to avoid thinking. It's frightening.

message 505: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments That's where you're going wrong.
Thinking is far more frightening than blue furry monsters
If as a writer you start them thinking, then you're using their imaginations as part of your book and suddenly you're putting together special effects that the CGI people can only dream about

message 506: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) It's certainly something to think about..

I don't even want to know how you go about commissioning one.

I have no problem with discussing porn. Those threads were removed because they had ceased to be a discussion and had turned into a listing of X rated words. It was difficult to even detect sentences.

If your thread is quiet, and you sit silently in the middle of it, you'll hear the 'Ride of the Valkyries' playing as the moderators fly past the end of your thread on their way to deal with some other poor beggar.

Never before seen footage of the moderators dealing with a drive-by spammer thread

Cheers

message 527: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) Don't worry, it's still ripe in our minds. Hard to forget, really.

message 528: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I think what's so scary is that while while both could be described as 'tasty' the combination is really disturbing. I mean, I'd be quite happy to put the gentleman in bed but the octopus would definitely be going in the stew pot.

Hmm...

Well I did try and restore order by providing a link with the recipe (for the Octopus, the other other bits, you're on your own, (Metaphorically))

Do I detect an air of calm? Excellent. Some music to create atmosphere, a glass of fine wine, a dish of candied shrimps and I shall return once more to the work in progress. My muse calls me.

Just to help you stay calm you might like to read an article about a poor little rich girl

Lord above. If you have a six figure salary and those kinds of debts you have been living beyond your means. I wake up sweating if I take more than a month to pay off my credit card bill. Then again, I've seen at first hand what happens when loans go wrong. If you live on the never-never, eventually something's going to have to give and usually that something's you.

So I can feel their pain but I'm not hugely sympathetic either... Then again, my family's old money-no money in that each generation has done well but each generation has also made its own. Except me.

Cheers

Phnark, I'm not surprised. I'm already sitting on the floor, luckily. The Daily Mail really is full of toss isn't it?

cheers

message 549: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Giles (sandra_giles) It really is. I best sit on the floor if ever any more links to their site are presented to me.

message 550: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm afraid that if she told me the sob story in person I'd struggle not to burst out laughing. Her fixed costs of living must be astronomical. No kids, Brenda worked out her house is worth £350k on that sort of mortgage, so it's only 3.5 times income which is hardly excessive.
What on earth is the money going on?
