Norwegian was my first language because I lived there as a child with my family. I don't speak Norwegian now, largely because all my cousins are so fluent in English!
We did not meet Christopher Lee when we were working at Pinewood. His scenes were filmed at a later date.

I lost two loved ones last summer, and I am just now beginning to feel human. Your dedication to keeping the Collinwood lamp shining through the darkest nights is a testament to your fine character, Kathryn.
I hope you come to the DC area (Annapolis would be nice!) so I can give you a hug. You have been an inspiration to me for many many years. Thank you!

Yes, I did not think you would have met Christopher Lee because, though I have not seen the new film of 'Dark Shadows', I have heard he has a really small cameo too, which doesn't really leave him much time to hang around at the production. But he is an important actor where I live, so I thought I should ask anyway! :-D
Thank you for answering my question about Norwegian. It is a beautiful language but I am more fluent in Swedish!
I do have a few other question about your career, and you will have to forgive me if you have been asked these questions before (I am sure being asked the same question can be frustrating!).
What are your most cherished memories in acting? And which actor, that you have met, do you feel has had the greatest lasting impact on you?
Again, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. :-)
A.

I was always curious about why they didn't follow through on that storyline, too. I'm not sure they ever revealed that Vicki was Elizabeth's daughter, though - I thought that was the big mystery, and what we were meant to wonder about. I thought she might have been Edward's instead, since he seemed a bit upset that Elizabeth had brought her to Collinwood. Did they ever come out and reveal that, or why, if not, Vicki was specifically requested for the job?

We're honored to have been included in this film!
Nonfiction is always easier than fiction for me. For the Bunny Years I drew on my own experiences working in the New York Playboy Club while I attended the American Academy Of Dramatic Arts, and I then interviewed more than 250 women who had worked as Bunnies in Clubs throughout the world over a 25 year span. The Dark Shadows book are also personal because I wrote about my own experiences and had first-hand knowledge of the series production. Writing fiction means plunging into a deep, dark, cold void . . . who knows what lurks there! But it's exhilarating and I am currently at work on another work of fiction.

First off, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel... Thank you for your kind words. It's so nice that you remember Dan Curtis. Too often, he is forgotten. I have never seen the 1991 series. I was working out of the country when it aired. I had a wonderful time working with Jonathan, David and Lara on the new film ... it was such a great experience.

Christopher Lee is an important actor here in the United States too!! I will never forget the first time my brother took me to see a Hammer film production of Dracula!! He scared me to death!! Anne

I would have to say Dark Shadows . . . and then working with Alain Resnais in Paris filming Providence . . . and working with Jimmy Stewart in Harvey in the West End. I think Jimmy Stewart had a significant impact because we lunched every matinee day together, and it was largely because of our chats that I decided to move back to the US to work.

That storyline was dropped entirely and I always thought it was so intriguing and should have been pursued. Also, whatever became of Elizabeth's husband? However, once Alexandra left the show and I assumed the role of governess there was no point in resolving the issue. And, of course, Jonathan came on the show and we went in entirely different directions.

I wrote Dark Passages, which is inspired by my experiences on Dark Shadows, but I have not plans to do any novelization based on the actual characters in the original series.

You are so welcome. Your book, Dark Passages, speaks for itself. Everyone is going to love it! That is, if they haven't fallen in love with it already.

Or, do you plan on pursuing any other Dark Shadows stories?
Thank you for your time!
Time will reveal all!I do hope to do a sequel to Dark Passages, but that is a ways away. I'll be announcing what my next works are soon... it'll be posted on my Facebook page, Twitter and my blog at www.kathrynleighscott.com.

Actually, I was interested to find out, when I finally bought and listened to the Return to Collinwood audio drama which came out before the Big Finish dramas that in the reading of Elizabeth's will, Elizabeth finally confessed that Vicki was her daughter, conceived before her marriage to Paul Stoddard, by a man she had loved but been unable to marry. She had had the child in secret, given her up to the foundling home but continued to send money for her, and then finally brought her to Collinwood with the intention of making her one of the family, though, to her regret, she had never gotten around to it. In the will, she left Sea View Cottage to Vicki, since Vicki had always said that was the only place she had ever felt at home, and implored Carolyn, as her sister, "to bring Vicki home". I think that would make a an interesting plot for a follow-up drama for Big Finish Productions, especially since, according to Sam Hall's summary of what happened to the characters in DS after the show ended, Carolyn became an expert in parapsychology and a medium, and would be capable of doing it.

Wasn't it because Alexandra Moltke had to leave the show to have a baby?? Anne

I love the Big Finish Audios!!! Anne

I agree that it was also in my amazement that Victoria Winters was Elizabeth Stoddard's daughter! But I think it that it just fit! I can see that now when I watch the vhs tapes! (LOL VHS TAPES) that Victoria was refined, well spoken as Elizabeth was.
I also just finished Return to Collinwood! Oh I just cant tell you how wonderful it was & I too cannot wait for another book! I was wondering, how it was to be with Lara Parker, David Selby & Jonathan Frid when you all met up in England to do the new movie? Yes, you mentioned in your book it was great! One more question, did you enjoy doing a part in the new movie as much as the original series?
Thank you
I talked a lot about the trip to England and meeting up with the others for the filming in many interviews I gave before the movie opened. It was wonderful and touching and I will always treasure the memory, especially since it was the last time the four of would ever be together. The experience of doing the movie vs. the series is so unique and different; I don't think you can compare them. Each was a fabulous experience and I'm grateful for both.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule!!!!
How well do you speak Norwegian and have you visited Norway?
Also did you meet Christopher Lee on the set of the new parody movie of 'Dark Shadows'?
Thank you.
