Oana | 4 comments Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for the welcome! With museums, I do a little bit of everything, from programs to collections. There are starting to be more positions opening in museums as more people retire, so now is a good time to prepare for entering the field, if you're not already in it. I see that you're interested in underwater archaeology - sounds like a neat specialty! A diver coworker told me some stories of her shipwreck dives in the Great Lakes; so amazing.

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 2011 comments Welcome, Oana! And many thanks for telling us how to pronounce your name. Even though I won't be saying it out loud, I like to know how to say it in my head. :)

I see that you took the time to put in the book cover and author photo for the book you mentioned. That is a great start. We do also require the author name link, like so:

A Distant Mirror The Calamitous 14th Century by Barbara W. Tuchman Barbara W. Tuchman Barbara W. Tuchman

The mechanics-of-the-board thread can give you more detail if you are unsure about any aspect of citing a book:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...

If you haven't yet done so, please also take a moment and look at our orientation thread:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Lastly, your intro sparked some questions I'd like to ask you, but I should probably take it to the off-topic thread. Look for my next comment there. :) Here's a link to the off-topic thread, to make it easier to find:

message 2358: by 'Aussie Rick' (new)

'Aussie Rick' (aussierick) Hi Beth,

Welcome to the group, good to see another Civil War fan, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

This is how a book that you mention in a post should look:

The Gothic War by Torsten Cumberland Jacobsen by Torsten Cumberland Jacobsen

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

My name is Barbara and I live in Alexandria VA. I studied Classical Archaeology in college, and taught Classics for about 1O years. I'm now an empty nester and rediscovering my love of all things medieval. I'm currently reading "A Distant Mirrot," so I'm looking forward to June's discussion.

I graduate in July then I'll be heading to Graduate School for my M.A. in History. I've been a Civil War reenactor for almost 20 years, which is an area of specialization.
