Below are some links that will help you navigate the History Book Club and what our requirements are.
It would be very helpful if you took the time to familiarise yourself with these:
Policies & Practices
(this one is helpful for when you want to add book covers and author's photo's/links)
and:
Orientation & Roadmap
This is an example of how we like to highlight books and authors by using the 'add book/author' function/button:

As Harvey states, I'm one of the assistant moderators. If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to comment on a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. This is how a book should look:

Lindsay, I lived in Utah for the first 7 years of my marriage. Beautiful state.
Audrey, it looks like you have an interesting mix of historical interests!
Randy, road trips are definitely great. You can learn a lot of history from driving the country.
I hope you all enjoy some great discussions with us. :)

Thank you Mary Ellen for those kind words. We appreciate members saying hello to all newcomers. Great job.
Hi! Just joined. I love reading all kinds of genres. I live in Florida, but originally from New York. Happy to join this group.

Thank you all. It is nice to feel so welcomed. Appreciate pointing us in the right direction.

My name is Allie. I'm a history teacher in NYC thinking of getting a second masters just in history so any motivation would be great. I'm also new to good reads so any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks for having me. This seems like a great place for me to start off.
Hello Allie,
It is a great place to start. Please refer to message 1229 for some helpful suggestions and threads on our site which may help you to get started right (Aussie Rick, one of my Assisting Moderators was kind enough to post them).
I believe that you have come to the right place especially with your background and I am sure that we have a lot to learn from you.
I look forward to reading your posts. We are glad to have you. You seem to be in my neck of the woods.
All best,
Bentley

I'm new here as well, but this is really a great group of people. Looking forward to participating in the discussions with you; as a history teacher I'm sure you will bring a lot to the table.

Take a look at the First World War - General thread in the First World War discussion section - it has many pages of book recommendations from a wide range of WWI topics. It's almost overwhelming, so I'm sure you'll come across something of interest :)
Don
Thank you Don for welcoming Charl; very much appreciated and for giving him such a helpful suggestion.
Charl, welcome to the History Book Club...you will certainly find some fine books to pursue and even some active discussions.
I look forward to reading your posts.

PS: By just looking through the board, I have to say I'm stunned how much effort you put into the cultivation of this group, Bentley (a rather rare thing regarding the "web 2.0" fashion today, where everbody has created a bunch of groups and blogs by himself which never get looked after).
We are glad to have you Markus and welcome to the History Book Club.
Please make sure to take a careful look at our guidelines.
