Hi Phil,
Make sure to check out the Help Desk folder because it will show you how to do citations. I did not add the link only for that reason but to also show you our rule for citations. Whenever you mention a book or an author except during a thread discussion of a specific book, each and every time you have to add the bookcover, the author's photo if available and the author's link which is their name in linkable text.
So try to look at how we added the citations for you so that you can do it next time:

Yes, it is good to have the Constitution readily available when reading the papers:

Hi Phil, don't worry - there is never a need to comment. It's just for fun - so, please just enjoy the music and have a good time.

but it is actually a Digireads edition (for which there is no link I could find in the 18 pages of books available in the "add book/author" section) which does not include the US Constitution. I have asked Amazon to remove that listing from the formats offered so as not to confuse other interested buyers.

I'm looking forward to being an active part of the group, and have already made plans to join the Dec. 4th discussion. My favorite genre is the biography/autobiography, although I enjoy reading a wide range of books. I love history and political science (t'was my double major in college), so this group will very much be my cup of tea...:-)

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. This is how books you mention should look:

I just finished "A Distant Mirror", was completely "there" in the 14th century as I was reading it, but could find no one, including my husband, whose eyes didn't glaze over when I attempted to engage in a discussion about it. I just got the John Quincy Adams book from the library (I'm really interested in learning more about Mrs. Adams!) and was anticipating the same lonely read. But not any more.
I am an organizational psychologist, retired corporate exec who is old enough to remember Amos&Andy on the radio and rotary phones. My husband and I divide our time between Coral Gables, Florida and Woodstock, New York. Yes, that Woodstock. A lovely place filled with quite a few readers but not ones interested in nonfiction (unless it is of the otherworldly variety.
I am now going to get a glass of wine and start catching up on the Distant Mirror discussion threads. What fun!

Thank you, Rick.

Thank you so much, Alisa. Being technically challenged, I may tak you up on that.

Thanks, Jill.
Hi Jane and Robyn, welcome to the group.
Apart from all the great discussions on history we also have quite a few nice threads on music (all kinds from all places)
Please feel free to take a look/listen if you want.
Best wishes,
André

I'm Letizia, from Rome, Italy.
I'm a scientist, but really interested on history and literature, so this group seems really good for me.
Depending on the period of my life, I preferred ancient history (Middle east, Greece and Romans), or modern one, but at the moment I'm reading whatever I can find on precolumbian cultures in central and south america.
I'll post as soon as possible my comments/suggestions/questions... so stay tuned.
ciao
letizia

Caravaggio is also one of my favorite artists. I recently went to see where he live on the Viccolo Divino Amore.

Hello Benjamin,
We are delighted to have you with us; but unfortunately this is an introduction thread where we are just trying to get to know you without any personal self promotion. I will include the first part of your intro and will have to delete the remainder for the purposes of this thread. Thank you in advance for your understanding and we still do wish you well in all of your endeavors but we run a tight ship. (smile)
From Benjamin:

Letizia,
Welcome to the History Book Club and a special thank you to Jill for assisting you and providing some links to get you off to a great start. Your background sounds terrific and who does not love Italy. I was in Italy just a few months ago and am always thrilled to be there.
Hope you enjoy your time here and we thank you for your interest.

I'm Marissa, I recently finished

Mark Twain
and I was definitely impressed since I was never a huge Mark Twain fan.
I'm 25, I'm somewhere in the midst of a cataclysmic transition in my life, so to buffer all the stress from said transition I've been reading voraciously for the past couple months.
I enjoy cooking, reading, drawing, and reciting passages from books to my cat in a Katherine Hepburn voice.

You did a great first effort in citing your book. Just add the author photo if available:

Welcome TJ from Boston and Marissa,
Boston is close to where I grew up and it holds fond memories for me and Marissa - your cat must be very well read (smile).
All Best,

Andre, thank you for the invitation to the music group. While I love classical and jazz, I don't think I'm competent to comment on it, but I will lurk if that's ok with you.
