Hi Robert,
the Goodreads people changed their layout a little recently.
The top bar has an exclamation mark (notifications) on the right with a number marking the new posts.
Click it and all the posts appear. Once more click on any of the links and you get to the posts/threads.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
This is how a book that you mention in a post should look:

Live half-way between Milwaukee and Chicago.
As a retired person, I can reflect and admit my mistakes, and speak my mind.
The Medeival Age was such a pivotal time. Like the Victorian Age, some choose to cling to the pat answers of the past, while others choose to live without having all the answers spoon-fed to them.
What subjects are you discussing now ?

Hi Gardensinger, and welcome.
I take it from your pseudonym you might be interested in music.
Although we do not as yet have a thread just for Garden Singers, there are some nice ones on offer. Check Discussions and scroll down to Music if you like.
Have fun!

Hopefully this works, although I guess there was no photo of the author available.

Denise wrote: "Okay, Brian. Thanks for letting me know."
Denise, before you posted for the first time; a pop warning note popped up and stated very clearly that we have NO SELF PROMOTION. It appears in your case that you ignored the warning placing Bryan in the position of having to delete your post. Please read the rules and guidelines before posting again; it will make your time here that much more enjoyable.

Just in case you missed it:
We have zero tolerance for flaming, flamebaiting, spam, bookspam, self promotion, ads, marketing, attempts to sell something, use of our membership list for self promotion of any kind, trolls or trolling. There are serious repercussions for any of these practices or posting styles. We also do not allow any posting of links or self promotion of other goodreads sites, other external sites, or other urls used to promote the member in "any" way.
- Remember no marketing; no posting the same post all over the place announcing you are an author or a publisher and how many books you have written or published. We do not want to be sold to, marketed to, nor is our site a platform to advertise your books or anything else you may be marketing. So please be careful even in your intros and contact one of the mods if you are in doubt "before you post". We delete all such posts immediately.

GG, unfortunately, most of your post was self promotion. I have taken the liberty to repost only those segments allowed. Normally, we delete all such posts in their entirety.
You may want to read what I wrote to Denise. We have a zero promotion policy and we are not here to advertise or market. Also, when citing books or authors; we do have citation rules. As I mentioned to Denise (post 3465), there is a pop up window which pops up before you post for the first time so ignoring our rules and guidelines is not an option here. It makes everybody uncomfortable.
I am GG Vandagriff, a 20th century wars freak. Got BA and MA in international relations with emphasis on Eastern/Central Europe. Studied in Austria. Love movies, biographies, autobiographies, histories, and fiction from this period. Have read all of Churchill.

I live 1 hour east of Toronto in the countryside. I listen to a lot of audiobooks because I love knitting. I just bought a Kobo ereader so I can download books from the library.

Welcome Jill to the History Book Club. Yes, that discussion was an excellent one; Elizabeth S does a great job of moderating.
Thank you to Bryan for helping Jill and giving her some helpful links.

Simran, as long as the discussion threads are active it is never too late to participate in a discussion. People read at their own pace but I think you will find it worth adding your thoughts to the discussion.
As well, don't forget the author link when citing a book - it is book cover (always) author photo (when available) and author link (always). You got two out of three - a good start.

Alisa is correct, the threads are not closed, so feel free to post. We welcome your comments :-)
Hello, everyone. I'm David, and I'm an avid history reader. I'm also a husband, a father of two small boys (who are too young for me to read them history, but give it time), and a lawyer. I'm 43 and live in Northern California.
I read tons of nonfiction history, and it's starting to crowd out the fiction I read. But I want to read more fiction, so I'm eager for recommendations of historical novels. I most enjoy history from before the 20th Century, and I'm particularly interested in late antiquity in Europe (a.k.a. the Dark Ages), the Hellenistic age, the Minoans, the Enlightenment, Victorian England, the rise of agriculture, the Mayans .... (Actually, the list is pretty long!)
I'm looking forward to participating.

Great job Jill. However, the links are wrong. You must be using old links that are not longer working.
