Welcome to the group, good to see another Australian joining up, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
This is how the book that you mention in your post should look:

Hello Karolina and welcome. A special thank you to Aussie Rick for helping you.
Please familiarize yourself with the group's rules and guidelines and start experimenting with the add book/author feature above the comment box. We require all books and authors to be cited in a certain way to take advantage of the powerful goodreads software.
Also, when mentioning historians who are also authors - one has to cite the authors as well and you have noted a bunch of them.
For example, this is how all of the ones you mentioned should be cited in your post:
If we just mention an author; we always add the author's photo when available and additionally always the author's link.
Herodotus
Suetonius (no photo available)
Edward Gibbon
There was also this other book mentioned which needed to be cited properly as well:
by Bettany Hughes - (no photo available)

My name is Patrice. I'm a recent graduate of Fordham University, where I double majored in History and Classical Languages (well, Latin). I'm working as a legal and financial proofreader for the moment. I've studied a lot of different kinds of history, so I have a lot of favorites: ancient history, especially of the Roman Republic; early modern European and 20th century European, and I'm becoming a fan of American history again (after four years of taking a much-needed break from it).
In my newly discovered free time post-graduation, I'm a musician, a composer, a martial artist, and a bigger nerd than I thought I was. I'm looking forward to reading everything I didn't have time to read before. Cheers!
Patrice

Hi!
My name is Genevieve. I have a BS in Psychology with an emphasis in social work and a minor in photography and chemistry (it took me awhile to make up my mind lol). My husband, 18 month daughter, and I are currently in South Carolina. I'm nervous but excited about joining the group because I'm fairly new to history. I recently discovered my enjoyment of history while reading basic (coffee table type) world history overviews such as:
by
Adam Hart-Davis.
I have been wanting to get more into historical reading and expand my personal knowledge, but have found that, sadly, not all histories and biographies are created equal. I'm hoping that this group will help introduce me to more quality reads and provide a resource for me to delve into the subjects matters. I hope to be able to add to the discussions, but hope that ya'll will be open to questions (at least at first)!

Awesome job on the citation. (If there is no photo of the author, you don't need to add it, just the author link will do.)

Hi Shelley,
We have a no spam, no advertising, no marketing, no self promotion rule. We are delighted to have you with us. But I had to delete your intro.
I hope you do not mind my having to repost it minus the areas that had issues:
From Shelley,
This site is unique in its wealth of leaders and moderators....Hi, I'm a female Texan writer and college instructor who lives at the intersection of American history and literature. Unlike my students, who (sigh) think history's boring because of all their past textbooks, I find it the greatest story ever told.

Hello Madoc. Please follow the rules and guidelines that have been kindly added by Alisa and there should be no further issues.

My name is Cheryl and I actually found this group while searching on Google for more information about
Colleen McCullough's 'The Grass Crown':

I just finished it and I can't wait to be a part of the upcoming discussion for 'Fortune's Favorites'!

I am a high school English teacher who has recently returned to reading voraciously now that my son only demands my attention 21 hours a day. I obviously love literature, but I also adore historical fiction, with British history being a favorite. I started reading Phillipa Carr / Jean Plaidy

As an English teacher I must ask - how do you italicize the titles of books on these posts? Thanks!

As to your question about adding italics, if you click on the (some html is ok) link above the comment box it will provide you with the instructions.
Thanks and glad you joined us.

I would love any suggestions.
Happy 4th of July!

Welcome to the group, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors and I am sure you will find lots of good suggestions once you start poking around in the various threads.

Anyway, history is my life. I have dual undergrad degrees in history and political science and I was recently accepted to graduate school this fall to pursue an MA in European history. I am very excited.
Ancient history and early modern Europe through the age of nationalism and into WWII are my main interests, but I also love some segments of US history and in fact wrote my undergrad thesis on a US history topic. Basically, if it happened in the past, I am interested in varying degrees!

Travis, welcome - we have an emerging Ancient History folder which we hope you will add to as well as a developed military history segment which should make you feel right at home.
Your background should fit right in to the group and its interest areas. Glad you have joined and are back.

I look forward to finding suggestions on historical non-fiction that provides insight and detail without being too textbook-ish on all historical eras, and also to joining discussions on how events occurring now impact our evolving understanding of history.

My name is Becky and I simply love to read, and have been a member of GR for about a year. In December I joined one of the GR book clubs and just saw that a buddy of mine had signed up for this one. When I saw that you read historical fiction too, I was hooked.
I love fiction/non and biographies. I read paper/hardback, eBooks and audiobooks (about an hour on the road for commutes help that).
My reading is eclectic. In the last year I've read about the American Revolution, American Civil War, French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Churchill, Mark Twain, Jews in History, the rise/power/decline of the Nazis, Rome, rock art in the Southwest U.S., Tesla, Holocaust, Japanese internment in America, WWII Pacific theater, immigration in America, the Dustbowl and so much more.
I simply love to learn.
I look forward to the discussions - I think this will be a fun group.

I have been looking for this history book club for years. I was a native New Yorker till 62, when I became a native New Mexican until when I moved to Arizona in 72. I am retired and disabled now.
From 69-94, I was a special ed teacher (in one form or another)in NM and Az. My wife is a Speech Pathologist, semi retired.
On my ColorNook I recently read " and 1861" and "The End of All Wars"

I am 57, may be retired (we haven't decided yet). I studied American History and Political Science as an undergrad planning to teach H.S. history. Lack of jobs drove me to law school and I ended up practicing law for about 20 years (and enjoying it for about five years). Switched to teaching elementary school for four years (THAT was fun!) then moved to Italy for the last three years before recently returning to the U.S.
I read mostly history. My fiction reading is very random. I try to limit myself to one fiction and one nonfiction book at a time but just counted 29 books on my night stand in various stages of completion (and that is not counting what I am reading on my Nook which is always in my backpack).
I will be participating in the presidential series to start off with
