My name is Jeff and I like to read history books among other genres. This looks like a great, well-organized group and I look forward to participating in discussions.
Some of my favorite historical areas are the Civil War, Ancient Greek and Roman history, and British history.
The last historical book I read was

I am listening to the audio recording of

in the car and gym.
Looking forward to reading/discussing

Thanks, Jeff

I hope you enjoy reading and discussing Wolf Hall with everyone. Please jump into any discussions that look interesting.

And you did the book citations perfectly. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

Welcome to the group, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) This is how the book that you mentioned should look:

In this case there was no author photo but the link should always be included.

I'm from Connecticut and Los Angeles originally (about equal time on both coasts) but have spent most of my adult life here in Japan. My life in 25 words or less: I came here in 1986 as an exchange student, met this cute Japanese guy, and we now have two kids and a mortgage. I've always had a passion for history, both fictional and non-fictional, and I look forward to getting to know you all...and of course, more book recommendations!

My name is Jason and I'm from Montreal. I have a specialization in history from Concordia university. I specialized in early American history, Europe during the Reformation, and military history in the twentieth century. I love history books and I'm looking forward to joining the discussions of this group.
Welcome Jason,
Your background is perfect for this group and we welcome you.
A couple things to help you get started with The History Book Club. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. The citations have three parts: (bookcover always when available - it usually is except for older books), (author's photo when available) and always (the author's link) - author's name in linkable text.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us moderators. We have a number of historical fiction reads going on, so don't hesitate to jump in.
Welcome Marissa, I think you will fit right in.
Would love to hear about your interests in Syria and Iran. It sounds like you have a broad spectrum of interests.
Since Aristotle is not only a philosopher but an author of sorts; this is how you should cite him.

Other than that, my other interests are broad and include the scientific (neuroscience, evolution, biology), the cerebral (philosophy and the study of religion) and the human (everything from sociology and psychology to literature and music).
Other than that I'm pretty useless (hey, that's the life of a student).

Welcome Sandra...glad to have you with us. There are a lot of folks in the group from the UK.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

I'm Jenny and live in Adelaide, Australia. My main interests are historical fiction and biography but I do try to read a bit of everything. I'm a bit of an Anglophile, so my main area of interest is English history and royalty, and it's interactions within Europe.
I've had a bit of a look around the group and, I must say, I'm impressed! This is one serious reading group, which is great, as they are usually hard to find :-).
I'm really looking forward to reading along with the Wolf Hall group read, although I'll be reading the monster hardback I've had in my TBR pile for way too long.

Welcome to the group, good to see another Australian jump on board, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors.
