Hi everyone my name is Tim and I'm currently living in southwest NM. I joined this group because I enjoy reading about American history. I particularly like the Revolutionary and Civil war books. My hope is too make a few friends here and possibly find a few great biographies to read along the way.

I'm not a heavy reader, as I usually read no more than a half dozen history books each year. I'm hoping I can get some better recommendations with this group.

Welcome Mark from another Mark!

We love history buffs and Villanova University is an excellent school. Russian politics/history is certainly an important element in the balance of power and world affairs. I find it amazing that in some past major wars, as rather polar opposites, America and Russia fought together for a common cause.

Many years ago I played high school basketball and Roland “Rollie" Massimino was the coach of our #1 rival team Lexington, Massachusetts. He was a character then too. Rollie made sports history when he went on to Villanova coaching them to the 1985 NCAA basketball championship.

Hello all I am sarg (retired police Sargent) I have always enjoyed history, History was my favorite subj in school My Mrs Willis could always make history interesting and not just remembering Dates and places. Being 77 years old I have seen a lot of history during my life, WWII I was in the navy at the end of the Korean War, As a Rookie Policeman I guarded JFK on his last day of life at the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. Hi, I'm David. I've loved reading history ever since I was a child. Actually, I've loved reading almost everything since I was a child. I joined Goodreads a few months ago. I learner of it existence thanks to my cousin Sara.

I live in Covington Kentucky. I'm an adjunct instructor of life sciences and allied health care classes at Brown Mackie College of Cincinnati, OH. My students are mostly in nursing, medical assisting, surgical technician, veterinary technician, et cetera programs. I mostly teach anatomy & physiology, microbiology, and biological chemistry.

I have a doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine. My thesis research was on the regulation or gene expression by steroid hormones. Following that, I was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health. I then worked for several years as an industrial chemist. Now I teach undergraduate students.

I recently finished re-reading Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I've just begun re-reading Churchill's The Gathering Storm. I'm reading them on my Kindles. I have a Kindle keyboard and a Kindle Fire. (Amazon has Churchill's epic History of the Second World War on sale for $1.99 in Kindle ebook format from Rosetta Books, if anyone is interested.)
