I read an Alistair Maclean book as a teen about a man travelling through (I think) war torn Europe with a bunch of kids, trying to get them to safety.

Sue Elleker | 1054 comments Are you sure it's Alistair Maclean? It sounds to me like Pied Piper by Nevil Shute.
A man goes on a fishing trip just before the war starts, and ends up in charge of several children, including a german child. The childs relative, who is a German officer, gives the man travel documents if he agrees to take the child to safety with him.

Shanna_redwind | 852 comments Yep, you got it. Thanks. I used to read both of them in high school and got them mixed up. I would have spent a long fruitless time reading Alistair Maclean descriptions.

This is solved, if someone could move it into that folder for me, that would be great. Thanks.
