Kat (katzombie) | 2 comments Hi all, I'm Kat and an Aussie that's been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I wasn't looking to join any other groups but I love the broadness of the monthly reads - so here I am!

I read a whole range of books - zombies through to historical fiction, non-fiction, contemporary YA and almost everything in between!

Mmeeske | 6 comments Sorry my phone would not let me correct the typos! Any way, I have really been enjoying nordic authors. There is just something different about their style I have not been able to put my finger on yet. I look forward to getting great suggestions for new books and talking about them!

Tabitha Thrailkill | 1 comments Hi everyone. My name is Tabby. Im 23 years old and from the US. I love to read because it lets me escape from the stresses of everyday life. And its nice to finally find a group.

message 360: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (lucybeloved) Hello people! Great idea for a group, I was starting to worry that every group out there was reading Anna Karenina (not that there's anything wrong with that, just not in the mood for it right now :)). I'm 26, hoping to work in a library someday, but until then I need to connect with some readers and make some progress on my to-read list! Just found Goodreads yesterday, so I'm pretty excited about it XD I tend to be long-winded: just tell me to stow it if I get annoying :D

Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments Welcome, Tabby and Leslie! :) And welcome to Goodreads, Leslie.

message 362: by Lorna (new)

Lorna Hi Everyone! I'm Lorna from So CA & I'll read the cereal box if there's no book around(rarely happens)! I too thought I was obligated to finish every book but now if I start a dud I skim the chapters & read the ending to decide if I want to continue (spoilers for a dud is OK for me) I enjoy all genres but lately have been spending a lot of time with WOT and George Martin - still waiting for the next book in the series! Great idea for a book club - helps us drop boundaries of all kinds!

Beate (Belarane) Hi fellow booklovers! My name is Beate and I am 31, I am from Norway. I am engaged and my fiancè and I both love reading. I have a wide taste when it comes to genre, and I like reading both paper editions and Kindle editions. Lately it's been more of the latter. This is the first book club I have ever been a member of, so I'm looking forward to see how it works for me. I also crochet, bake and photograph and am writing a blog.

message 368: by Kristell (new)

Kristell | 33 comments Hi, I'm new to goodreads and found this group, I think is a great idea, I've always wanted to join a book club but always thought to myself what if I don't like the book they choose, I am very picky about books.
I love reading but I always have problems finding books I might like, so I'll try to keep up with the group every month. I am 24 years old, female and I'm currently job hunting so for the moment I have plenty of time to search for books and read.

message 376: by Shomeret (new)

Shomeret | 69 comments I'm Shomeret in California though originally from New York. I read anything that sounds unusual and/or deals with concepts that interest me.

I like the idea of being a Theme Rebel if you aren't interested in the theme, but I also noticed that no one has to be a Theme Rebel in October. You just have to put the book that you're about to read on your To Read shelf just before you start. Then lo and behold, you are reading the most recent book added to your To Read shelf. I think that's charming.

message 378: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jeoblivion) Hi everybody, I am Jenny, living in Germany and needless to say: I like to read. A lot. I love the idea of theme reads, and will probably join reading with you in November, I decided to sit October out, as it would require me to actually buy a book (rather than minimizing the gigantic pile of unread books in my shelf) unless of course I follow Shomerets advice, which now that I come to think of it...I probably will ;)
My taste in literature is quite wide, just recently fell in love with Colm Tóibín, a few other favourite authors of mine are Richard Yates, Max Frisch, Beckett (Samuel not Simon), Agota Kristof and Coetzee.

message 380: by Hailey (new)

Hailey (omgreading) Hi. I'm Hailey, I'm from Georgia. I love to read, and this year I have finally gotten around to reading more. I used to read much more when I was younger but over the past few years, I found myself coming to the end of the year and having only read maybe five books at the least.

I will pretty much read anything. I'm really into Bizarro fiction right now. I have only read Carlton Mellick III so my love of the genre is based solely on him. Other than Bizarro I will read either classics or satire.

I think goodreads is one the reasons I have read so much more this year, so hoorah.

Kerry (euphemy) | 27 comments Hello everybody. My name is Kerry and I'm from the US. Reading and traveling are my hobbies. I don't have a favorite arthur yet. I have read books on travel but I want to now expand my horizons. I seem to be very interested in history books and classics but also ones on legends; like King Arthur. I have been searching for a book group that I can participate with my interests.

Hi, Hailey! I had similar experience: when I was student I had to read a lot of manuals and I found myself less and less interested in reading in general. I think now that time is over. It's a good thing, right?

Kate M. | 5 comments I'm Kate from California, I'm 25 and I'm a stay at home mom to a 1 year old. I get most of my reading done during nap time. I like chick-lit, mysteries, thrillers, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and the classics. So, pretty much I like any kind of fiction lol.

I love the idea of this book club! It's so unique and it's a great addition to the other book clubs I'm in. :)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments Welcome to the group, Kate! Glad you like the idea, and I hope you enjoy it. :)

message 391: by Katie (new)

Katie Hello! My name is Katie and I'm a 24-year-old freelance writer/editor from Virginia. I've had a Goodread account for well over a year now but haven't used it... and I really want to start reading more.

See, I have a problem with starting books and then never finishing them. So I figured joining a book club would be a good idea, because it would give me a deadline to finish the book by. However, just like the description to this group says, I was worried I would get stuck reading something I really didn't want to. Whoever came up with this is a genius!
