Autumn | 3 comments Hi I'm Autumn. I'm 37. I seem to switch between historical fiction, non-fiction history, and chic lit throwing in a mystery here and there.

Me too! And you're reading what I'm reading, so it's even more exciting!

message 310: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 35 comments Just joined today. I have always been facinated by making choices based off of random criteria and this theme book club seems like just the thing. I am pretty excited. Since i just joined i doubt i will finish my "blue book" before the end of the month but i am excited to be finally forced to read Harold Blooms "The Western Cannon". It is rather apt that it is my first choice since i reference it all the time when I am looking for some high falutin reading. Anyway glad to have found this group.

Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments Welcome, Kevin, and good luck finishing your blue book! ;)

message 312: by Lamilla (new)

Lamilla Hi! I'm Margarita, looking for a good company to discuss a new book. I've started Catch-22 long ago, and seeing it in the first page made me instantly want to join. Nice to meet you all.

Kristin Nador (kristin_nador) Hello everyone! I'm Kristin, a 48 yr old writer and new grandma from Broken Arrow, OK. This is a great idea for a book club and I'm excited to participate.

message 319: by agata (new)

agata (aga76) Hi everybody!

My name is Agata, I'm 36 years old, and I live in Hilden, Germany. I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, so I have some time for reading between nursing and changing diapers ;-).
I like to read almost everything, as long as it asks interesting questions, and is well written.
I very much like this groups basic idea, to read by theme. This way I can choose something from my shelves with a nice guideline. Looking forward to reading and discussing with everybody here.

By the way, what is the theme this month?

I'm in central California, and I saw the Lion King in Sacramento. :o) I was overcome with emotion when I saw the Phantom on Broadway...cried right after sitting down BEFORE the musical began! LOL

message 330: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenniferirene) | 13 comments Vicki,
I know some of the music.. it sounds very emotional! Mamma Mia and Hairspray are probably my favorite shows.

message 332: by Deshanta (new)

Deshanta Hi everybody, I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa. I've been a bookworm since I was little and have a wide taste in literature. Currently I like getting stuck in to autobiographies but I've always been a fiction reader.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 63 comments Hi Deshanta, how exciting to be from Johannesburg! Do you still live there?

Hi Vicki, what part of the world are you in? I'm was born and raised in JHB and continue to enjoy the City of Gold. Try a few easy biographies like celebrity bios are quite fun to get through and then tackle the serious ones.

message 339: by Eruwenn (new)

Eruwenn | 67 comments Er, hello. I'm quite new to the Goodreads phenomenon, but it finally dawned on me that keeping track of what I read might not be such a bad idea.

(Oh dear, I'm never good with the introduction thing... um...) I'm a housewife living in Austria (moved there from Canada), which is a lot more boring than it sounds. I've somewhat recently rediscovered my love of reading, and am hoping to keep up the habit this time!

I've never done the book club thing before either, so this group with its broader scope for potential reads called out to me.

Did I miss anything?

message 340: by Amara, Group Creator (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments Welcome to the group and Goodreads, Eruwenn! I hope you enjoy both. :)

[And your introduction was perfectly adequate. ;)]

Anne, what you wrote is really quite profound, at least as it applies to my own experience. Basically, I've come to the same conclusion: If I can't get into a book, I'm not "obligated" to anyone other than myself to finish it, and, therefore, I don't/won't. Life's too short and my book list is waaaaay too long to read something - anything! - that I can't enjoy in the first 50 pages. But then there are certain books that you revisit later - maybe months, maybe years - and thoroughly enjoy. It really all comes down to where one's "head is at" when they turn the first page, doesn't it?

Shayan Foroozesh (shayanfz) | 3 comments Hi there :) I'm almoooost new to this group. Heather | 1 comments Hello, everyone.

My name is Dyani and I'm from FL. I was pulled into good reads thanks to my girlfriend and now I'm enjoying it. I like to crochet. Mostly toys and lots of bookmarks. So usually I'm digging up new books while making things. My favorite books are usually fantasies like werewolves, vampires, witches, and so forth. My favorite author is Kelley Armstrong. Glad to find a place like this!
