Sara (sarareadsbooks2) Hi all! My name is Sara and I'm a 17 (and a half!) year old who loves reading. I'll be graduationg highschool in the spring of 2013 and hopefully will have a career involving writing (but thats up in the air right now!). My favorite genres include fantasy and romance, but I've been trying my best to expand my taste for the past 6 months! Love the concept behind the group, I'm already looking for a book with a blue cover to read!

Christy Eads winn Hello all! My name is Christine and I am from a smaller town west of St. Louis called Warrenton. I am in my late 30's with a teenage daughter and a 10 year old son. I have been an avid reader all my life, reading mainly mysteries. I have opened up to many different types of books since getting my nook and I am in love with all the choices I have now! I can't wait to get started on my blue cover book!

message 162: by Jana (new)

Jana (jana_marie) | 26 comments Hello, I'm Jana. I'm 27 and I live in Arkansas with my husband Greg and our cat, Mogli (no actual kids yet!) I was introduced to this group by my sister-in-law, Dana (both pronounced to rhyme with "Anna" - it's only mildly confusing when being introduced together). It sounds like a great group to help when I can't choose which book to pick up next...now it will be by theme!

I'm 43 and getting ready for the final semester leading to my Bachelor's in Health Care Administration (a goal *long* delayed). I've got the summer off from class, spending it with the family and preparing for the Komen 3-day in Seattle in September.

message 171: by LynnB (last edited Jul 08, 2012 03:09PM) (new)

LynnB Hi everyone! I'm Lynn from eastern Washington State. I'm married and we have 2 adult children, one in Germany and one in Texas. My taste in books is very eclectic, there are only a few categories that I don't enjoy reading. I have bookshelves at home that are out-of-control and I decided to join this group in order to tame them. I'm making a self-imposed rule that I have to pick the theme books from my own shelves if at all possible before going to the library or bookstore. Let's see if I can do it :)

message 172: by Diana S (new)

Diana S Hi! I'm Diana from Texas. I'm glad I found this group. It looks like fun! :)

I'm in the exact same position, as a matter of fact. My collection (nearly a thousand books, though that includes a medium-sized storage bin of picture books) has gotten to the point at which my parents have started to complain. :/

message 174: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nike13) Hello everyone! My name is Nicole and I've just joined the group. I like the idea of themes rather than a specific book selection of the month since it lets me get an idea of new books to check out.

A little about myself--I'm 28, married and I will be working as a programmer in a little more than a week (yay new jobs). I've always loved reading and tend to gravitate towards Paranormal or Fantasy novels. I also enjoy the odd historical book once in awhile but usually I'm reading about ghosts :)

I hope to make a lot of new friends and have my book horizons expanded.

message 175: by Jewett (new)

Jewett (doclibby) | 4 comments Hi - I'm a very senior retired English teacher. Reading is my first love and I like it all - paper books, audio books, nook books - I like most genres except science fiction and gothic - just couldn't get into those. I am a 20-year Texas who never wants to leave Texas. I live 6 miles from the Mexican border and 60 miles from the beach - it's a great area.

Elliotte Greetings and Salutations, my name is Elliotte (often known as Stormtrec). I am a new member tricked (uhm, “invited”) to your group by my fellow traditional Booklovers book club member Tara. My favorite genres include fantasy, sci-fi, urban fantasy, romance (the steamier the better) and some mystery. I feel that this new group will give me and even more interesting way of choosing my new literary conquests!

Amanda | 8 comments Hello everyone! I'm Amanda, 26, and I love to read. I love a broad scope of books from Classics to Horror and Sensation novels. I love the idea of this group and I hope to exceed my 50 books this year challenge!

message 190: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Qualia | 15 comments Hello! I'm Elizabeth. I am 2 days away from being 23 and I have had more time to read since I graduated from college-which I love-so I might just have to join the "Read 50 books in 2012" challenge. I prefer reading fiction and fantasy and distopian novels, and I will read any and all "age groups" of books. There is nothing I love more than finding a great series of books to read or a book I want to read over and over again.

message 191: by Annabel (new)

Annabel Criddle | 3 comments I'm Annabel, from Suffolk in the UK. I'm mid 40s and have three children who are all old enough to look after themselves a bit so I've been enjoying getting back into reading for myself. Luckily (or unluckily in some ways!) I commute on the train for two hours a day so I use that time to read if I'm not sleeping. I've been reading new-to-me authors and revisiting old favorites. Looking forward to seeing what people have been reading and taking ideas for books to read from here.

message 192: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi - Just joined the group. I love reading. I work to buy books so it seems. Based on my work load with determine how much I can devote to my books. I am mom to one pre-teen girl, live in Georgia, work in both a hospital and Dr's office as a respiratory therapist. (hoping to change my career to education) Just finished my 12th book for the year and currently have about 5 books or so that I am reading. I enjoy reading all different genres of books - they just have to catch me with the first few chapters to keep me hooked. Take care and chat with you all soon.

message 193: by Charlotte (new)

message 195: by Amena (new)

Amena Hi everyone,
I'm also new! I'm in my mid-30s and, surprisingly, love to read ;-).
My first read for this group will be "Divergent", which I've just started today. As I'm on holiday right now, I hope to finish it soon!
I'm not quite sure what to do with "Divergent" now - there's already a thread about it, but I don't think I'll join it because of possible spoilers...

message 196: by Amara, Group Creator (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments Hi and welcome, Amena! :)

I've just skimmed the Divergent thread, and it doesn't seem like there's anything remotely resembling a spoiler in there, so you're probably safe.

Though now that you've got me thinking, I think I'll make a note about spoilers. Does "spoilers must be tagged if posted before the month is over" sound fair?

(view spoiler)

Heather Maastricht | 7 comments Hello! My name is Heather and I currently live in California. I am 29 (for the 13th time- or more commonly known as 42) married and have a cat, who I believe is plotting to take over the world, or at least the fridge. My friends all say I am an obsessed reader. I often have 2-3 books going an the same time and will read anything that sparks my interest. I have many series going and am always looking for something new. I LOVE love love the simplicty of this group and being able to pick what I want to ready and not forced into something. If I had to pick just one genre, it would be mystery. Well, I am off to find a book with a blue cover! Happy reading!

message 198: by Varla Fiona (new)

Varla Fiona (dory_42) Howdy! I am Varla, and I live in an amazing cottage in the bush on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth, South Africa with my two furkids (a Golden Labrador & a Blue point Siamese). I work with reptiles at a Snake Park that is part of a complex with Aquarium/Oceanarium, Museum, Animatronic Dinosaur Park & Historical House. I read LOTS (over 100 already this year) so I tend to read a large variety. I love fantasy and am enjoying Young Adult stuff as well as Steampunk at the moment. I don't do soppy romances, especially if they are Twilight-wannabes. See you over at the reading discussions...
