Merging Author Profiles

Hi! I'm relatively new at being a librarian and wanted to verify if the way I'm attempting to merge author profiles is correct.

I tried merging http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/... profile with http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/... this one by editing name to match and I get the following error -

Sorry, this author is on Goodreads and is responsible for editing their own data. Data for other authors can be edited if you have librarian status.

Am I missing something?

GR authors can only be merged by a GR staff member. Normally, those requests are made in the following thread:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...

In this particular case the author you are trying to merge has no books, quotes, fans, etc. It should be cleaned up on its own by a clean-up script that gets run by GR about once a month.
