issues with author

I tried to combine a Dutch translation with the original book. I could not combine them, because the author's name has two versions:

Is there someone who can help?

I know for sure: 'De dode in smoking' is the Dutch translation of 'The Chinese jars'
The author is listed on the cover as: William C. Gordon (both Dutch and English version).

I suspect there might be 2 different William C. Gordon, based on the titles of the books.

Dutch edition now combined with English/Spanish/etcetera editions under the name William C. Gordon. Also, I managed to find William C. Gordon's website, so I'll see if I can clean up his profile.
