:) Go!

from BS North Edsa :) Yes!"
Yay! I have the same set...
Jzhun will murder us out of envy!!!

Mayroon naman akong vintage editions ng The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Bleeeh! 8`P

At ito ang isa pang pic! *Pak!*

[Sige na! Ako na bitter!]

Huwaw. O_o

bitteresa. LOL"
Kayo na!

Wow, nagmahal na nga sa BS. I bought mine for P765 last September at BS MOA.

@Maria: Niyahaha! Pero di ko pa tinaggal, sayang. Bwahaha.

Kwesi: Dapat may libre ako!

Haha.

I have book2/3 like Jzhun's pero di ko na makita yung book1 so I bought the movie tie-in nalang dun sa warehouse where I got it.
Time to read this! Wala nang atrasan like I did years ago :))))

I can't recall the movie. I remember watching it before kaso nakatulog ako sa sobrang haba. Parang di bagay si Elijah Wood for Frodo.
Anyway, bakit ganun si Tom Bombadil? Wala lang. So weird. Pati yung wife niya na very optimistic even in the midst of the Old Forest. Naalala ko yung white queen from Alice in Wonderland movie (Tim Burton) na parang ewan lang.

I have a LOTR guide book by Colbert (?) kaso baka maspoil naman ako (parang maspoil talaga no?). Kasi may high elves? Ano kaya yun haha)

Yung Middle earth letters, parang alibata.

Tricia, I've read The Hobbit, The LOTR Trilogy, The Silmarillion, and The Children of Hurin. Nabasa ko yung first three years ago pa, even before I joined Goodreads (or knew that it existed) kaya walang written review. At di ako mahilig sa rereads. Hehe. The Children of Hurin I read last year naman. :D

Re on Frodo's age: Ang 50 years of age para sa mga hobbits ay parang debut sa atin where they will have reached the age of majority, kumbaga yong legal age para sa atin.
Nasa index yong ng The Return of the King yong calendar na ginagamir sa Middle-Earth kaya ganyan yong age nila.
Re: Tom Bombadil and Goldberry Kaya nga gusto ko sila as comic relief in the earlier part of Book 1. Down the rest of the books magiging serious na kasi ang tone ni Tolkien. In the movie, it was Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck and Peregrin "Pipin" Took who are the source of comic relief (dahil magaling naman yong mga actors to give them credit).
Re Mapf Middle-Earth: I'll be bringing my huge-ass Middle-Earth map in the F2F. But I don't know with our book moderator if she'll prepare a Powerpoint presentation to trace the Fellowship's journey to the land of Mordor.
Re Language Tolkien devised/invented letters and languages to make the history of the Elves (major language Quenta and Sindarin) and Drawfs—contrary to the modern word plural form "drwaves" as Tolkien uses the old English form of the word in his books—(major language Khuzdûl; source: Wikipedia) for a much richer and deeper background to his mythology.

Ahehe. Haha! :D
^Ayan oh, mas maraming alam si Jzhun!

Since I already read the trilogy, I will read The Silmarillion by June (provided I'm done with the last Sherlock Holmes story collection. Ahihihi! ~~,)

But I don't know with our book moderator if she'll prepare a Powerpoint presentation to trace the Fellowship's journey to the land of Mordor.
Maria, my presssurrre! hak hak.

I was just making the suggestion. Haha! :D
I'll lend a helping a hand whenever I can, but I admit that some details are kind of fuzzy to me. ;)

Good luck.
Basta alalahanin lang na di tulad ng Lord of the Rings at The Hobbit, yung ibang Middle-Earth books ay hindi "kuwento" pero notes, fictional history, etc. (Medyo parang fictional history book yung Silmarillion.)

Thank for reminding me, Sir Charles Tan. Honestly, nalunod din ako one time na binasa ko yong The Music of the Ainur. :)

Share lang. There's this Popular blogger I follow[like 300-500 comments per posts-kind-of-popular], Mark Oshiro of Mark Reads, who does a chapter-by-chapter reviews on books. He did American Gods, His Dark Materials, The Princess Bride, Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc... He also featured The Lord of the Rings[the entire trilogy including The Hobbit] last December.
His posts are often very funny and if he's not liking what he is reading, snarky. It might be a good idea to 'read-along' with him[meaning reading his chapter reviews everytime you finish a chapter]. That's what I am doing. :)
