If you go into your Amazon account Fiona and into Manage my Kindle - simply finding the book via the search and using the options from the drop down menu at the side!Although the archive is technically just showing you your cloud so it should really not affect the speed of your Kindle at all!
Yep. Books that have been archived don't affect your kindle in any way, Fiona.Have you tried restarting it a few times?
Elle, Amazon guy told me it's cos I keep downloading books loads of books each time from the freebies lol.
A few people in the zoo have been reporting random restarts.Seems it resolves itself eventually.
Fiona, you should download the kindle to pc app and send your freebies there instead of to your kindle.
Then you can add them to your kindle one at a time as you want to read them.
Have you archived most of your books yet? How many do you still have on your kindle?
That is what I used to do - the pc app - and it works brilliant. Means you can get all the freebies you want but you don't have to worry about sending them and then removing them from the Kindle.Doing that resolved my freezing/restarting issues and I had it really bad too a few months back!!
Patti, I've only got 2 books plus the Dictionary and the Archived Items.I might add the app to my I-pad and see what happens x
Yep, my KK has been brilliantly responsive since I archived almost everything and have been sending to my pc instead.I'm not downloading more than a couple books a week now though.
Really just new releases from our authors now.
Patti, I have been addicted to downloading anything and everything (within reason) and it's gotten outta hand lol x
I would leave it without downloading anything on to it (bar obviously what you are reading) for a few days. Maybe leave it on charge with the internet on overnight as well to let it calm down.Use the app on iPad or pc to download anything you want. I reckon it'll be a new Kindle by the time it's had time to re-adjust!
No harm in it, especially the freebies, Fiona. But sending to pc is a lot better for your kindle, I think.
No idea why, but it's working for me and Elle anyway.
I figure it's because your Kindle doesn't need to spend time receiving and indexing everything to then re-index when you remove them. Surely along the way it'll get overpowered and muck things up.In saying this I was bad and cleared a few hundred bookmarks earlier by sending everything to my Kindle. It's pretty dead right now but by morning it'll be alive and well again if I don't touch it!
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Trying to download freebies onto iPad and it keeps saying to send to Kindle :-("I would rename your iPad to something beginning with an A - that is how I do it, then no need to pick something from the drop down list - simple one click to buy like normal!
Yeah I renamed all of our devices to make the pc come up first.I was downloading to my iPad for a while but I ended up using up all the memory on my iPad...
I originally used my iTouch too but came across the same problem. I figured then I'd have all books on me at any time if I used the iTouch but just didn't work.Although now I weeded out my archives and only have 250-ish books left!
I wanna take off the books I've read on my archives as it seems to go straight there when I have finished reading them.
Grrrrrr, just clicked on a freebie and it still tells me Send to Titch's Kindle and then if I click on the pull down, that's where my A1's iPad thing is.
Oh, if you delete the books that you've read from your archive, they'll not show as already purchased anymore, Fiona. You may end up reels loading them. They don't automatically go to archive after you've read them sweets. You have to left click on them to archive them.
I'm havin trouble accessing the archived stuff as well.Re-booted the laptop to see if the Amazon thing will change and it's still saying Send to Titch's Kindle 1st and then if I click on the pull down, that's where my A1's iPad thing and Mrs's Kindle for PC is.
It should definitely be in alphabetical order - that is something Amazon would need to sort though as I never had a single problem with mine and I spent 1 day changing loads of them several times. :SMaybe try another rename and see.
And yes, definitely just abandon downloading anything onto it for a few days and it will settle definitely. Your Kindle just needs some R&R - keep faith in it!!
I am gettin angry now, as it still saying Send to Titch's Kindle 1st and then if I click on the pull down, that's where my A1's iPad thing and Mrs's Kindle for PC.
Let me look at mine, Fiona. Maybe I'll find the problem, but no promises. :)Will have to be a later though. Just on my way out.
Ahh okay I did some renaming. It now seems to have 'two' alphabetical lists one after each other.
All 3 of my Kindles are in order first then my 2 non-kindle things show below it in order
(my kindle is now named bob fyi :D)

Thanks x
