15.4. Summer Reading
Option 1
A. "Summer Wind" - read a book with the letters "W I N D" in the title and/or subtitle, in any order;
AND
B. "Summertime" - read a book with the author's initials found in the letters of "Summertime." The initials can be in any order and need not be consecutive.

OR
Option 2:
Read ONE book that satisfies both A and B from option 1.

Chris (chrismd) | 1237 comments Here's three that I found:

The Snow Childby Eowyn Ivey
The Time It Snowed in Puerto Rico by Sarah McCoy (also good for the Caribbean task)
Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt

Jen B (jennybee618) | 885 comments Is Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell okay? It has the actual word "wind" in the title, but the letters are also in the other words of the title.

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments Hi Sandy my question for you is, when you have an author that uses initials like J.D. Robb or S.J. Rozan do all 3 initials have to be in summertime or just the first and last?

I am looking at Winter And Night by S.J. Rozan for the one book option.

Thanks

If all 3 initials are in the author's "official" GR name, then all 3 need to be included in SUMMERTIME.

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments Thanks Sandy, I was afraid of that. Back to the drawing board.

Jenifer (jensamaha) | 355 comments I think this one would count for option 2, right?
Iron Crowned (Dark Swan, #3) by Richelle Mead

Michelle (mnmgbwi) | 197 comments Would this book work to satisfy both requirements...

The Misanthrope's Guide to Life: How to Methodically Disengage and Disassociate from Damn-near Everyone

I'm double checking because there are 2 entries in GR with 2 varied titles and possibly more than one author. I'm confused so thought I'd ask. Thanks!

you need to go by the edition that you read. The one you cited in your post works.

MJ | 130 comments Does Ruth Reichl work for an author? There's an "R" in Summertime, but I didn't know if there should be two, or if the single "R" is enough.

Sorry, all the letters need to be there - so M and E are the only ones that would work for doubles.

Kim (goodreadscomkimber) | 708 comments OMG! This is just a vent - sorry.
I thought I was SO smart and found a one book option right off the bat to save for this task. I started it yesterday & realized just now that the initial of the authors 3rd name isn't in SUMMERTIME. UGH! Don't you all just hate it when you do things like that? (that's hoping someone else actually does these stupid things like I do!) Now I feel all "off" because I had it planned for so long and now I am back to square one.

The culprit book: The Wedding Gift by Marlen Suyapa BODDEN

It's a good book, I hope I can find a place for it somewhere else or maybe I'll just set it aside til the next challenge?

No need to reply to my rant. Just had to get it out of my system. Thanks for listening! :o)

Kim, I've had to change at least three books this challenge -- two of them after I already read them-- because I misread the directions or read them cross-eyed or something.

And I've got one I have to reschedule because the library no longer owns a copy (although the catalog said it was there when I started the search). Sigh!
