Ms. Anderson, would you accept this book for option 1A?

If not, I will us..."

Cosette is incredibly important, if everything I know about the story is right. This will work.

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments question for you - would The Expats: A Novel work for the spy? it seems like she is based on the description...

message 54: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments Since the reviews make it seem that she relies on her prior training and contacts to figure everything out, I'll accept this.

N. (nonodisco) | 202 comments I'm having a little confusion over option 2a. Do all of the letters S-T-A-R-K need to appear in the author's name (as in Chuck Klosterman's name, for example), or do the authors initials need to be contained within S-T-A-R-K (like Ayn Rand or Andrew Kaufman)?

Just the initials need to come from S-T-A-R-K, and they can be in any order.

for norse mythology Frost. Then entire series is based off the stork myth and Jack Frost and valhalla. The main characters in the book are a decedant of Jack Frost and an actual Human Stork.

message 60: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments Actually, there's some uncertainty as to Jack Frost's origin in mythology, although some anthropologists attribute him to the Vikings (and thus Norse mythology). If your book gives that his origin, I'll accept it, since he's a major character. However, if they don't give a backstory for him or it is unclear (and Valhalla is the only stated connection), that won't be enough.

The entire first book and second book relates everything back to her scandinavian heritage and her norse connections.

Also the summary in Goodreads to the first book states it comes from Hans Christian Norse Lore. I really do not know anythiny about Norse Mythology I just know what the books have stated and they say its Norse. That's the only way I have connected it.

oh and yes they claim his roots to the norse mythology.

message 62: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments Norse mythology is basically the stuff of the Vikings--Valkyries and Frost Giants and Odin and Loki and all that. Since they trace Jack Frost back to the Vikings and the Norse myths, I'll accept it.

Thanks!

I love that game, don't you? I've taken to playing it before I post, just in case a book I read doesn't work where I put it lol But that one should work.

a. Main character is a professional spy or spy-in-training,
would you accept Much Ado About Rogues? Jack is a spy for the Crown who also occasionally does an assassination.

I don't see anything about him being a spy in the description, but if you knew he is from the other books, then I'll accept it. Just make sure you explain the connection when you post.

Thanks! I used a book by Stephen King.

If I remember right, Viking Warrior is about the Vikings, but the mythology doesn't play into it that much. The Land of the Silver Apples doesn't seem like the second one has much of the Norse mythology from the descriptions/reviews, but since the first one is, maybe the second one is, too, and the descriptions aren't doing it justice? If you do read it and there is a bunch of Norse mythology, just be sure to explain the connection in your post.

message 73: by Megan (last edited Jun 24, 2012 08:21AM) (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments Ack! My reply didn't post.

Viking Warrior is about Vikings, but I don't remember the mythology playing into the plot too much. I know the first of the Sea of Trolls series had lots to do with the mythology, but I don't know about the second, and from the description, it seems like the second does not--however, I know "silver apples" refers to a specific Norse myth. If you read it and there is plenty of Norse mythology included, just be sure to explain the connection.

Since it looks like you're big into fantasy, I know Mickey Zucker Reichert's Renshai series has lots of Norse mythology, especially some of the later books. She's also got one called the Bifrost Guardians, which would work.

Ms.soule (mrssoule) For the Black Widow spy option, would A Kiss to Kill count? I don't know if it's obvious from the description but from reading the other books in the series I know the hero has been undercover with the bad guys for years. Does that make him enough of a spy?

If the hero is undercover working as a professional spy or spy-in-training, I'll accept it. Just make sure to explain the connection when you post.
