Jamie (jlporter013) My new Nook Glowlight arrived with a broken pixel that could only be seen when the light was on. I went into a B&N store, they said they didn't have any Glowlights on hand so I called the 1-800 number & they emailed me a UPS label that I printed out, packaged my precious Nook up and mailed it to their return center. I guess I thought they were going to send me a new/refurbished one ASAP (so I wouldn't have to be without my books for long) and because they took my credit card number over the phone. But, a week later, no Nook from them and I see (via UPS tracking) that my broken Nook just reached them today. I guess my question is: Are they going to wait until they look over my broken Nook to see if they can send me another one or... what? I guess I don't know what's taking so long. (I bought the protection plan too).

Jeanine (jjelizalde) What a shame! I don't think I could stand to be away from Nook that long....Hope you get it quickly!

Valencia (empowered) | 69 comments Probably trying to look it over and see if what you went through is going to be a trend and they can figure out how fix it. However, you might want to call and ask customer service what they plan on doing about your Nook.

Jessica | 28 comments When I had to replace my nook color they sent me the refurbished one before I had to send in my broken one. I think they called it "fast shipping" or something like that. They took my credit card # and said it would be charged in 14 days if after I received the new one if they did not receive the broken one.

Katya | 23 comments I had a problem with my Simple Touch and had called the call center tech people about it. Two months later it got worse and I went into the store and they just took mine and handed me a brand new one.

Two months later I bought my Simple Touch with Glowlight over the internet since the stores didn't have it. I hope it is as easy to do business on line as it was in the store. This thread makes me leery.

I don't understand if they sent you a broken product that they are sending you a refurbished one now. Why not a brand new one to replace the one sent that was broken? It arrived broken right?

Yeah! That's what the guy over the phone said he would do. I waited about a week but no Nook so I decided to send mine in so that they wouldn't charge my credit card before the 14 day mark. Hmmm.

Yes, it arrived that way. They may send me a new one, and not a refurbished one... I guess it depends what they have on hand to send. We'll see. I'll update you when I get the new one. Hopefully it'll be soon.

Jamie (jlporter013) Update: I called B&N and after about 30 minutes on the phone with them, they put me on hold & "escalated" the issue, then they made it sound like there was an error with the whole return process but it SHOULD work now and I SHOULD get a new replacement Nook in 3-7 business days. We'll see. I'll update again when I get the Nook. (I wish they'd communicate and keep me updated via emails instead of me having to keep calling them to ask "where's my Nook I bought a week ago?")

For future reference it's 14 days from the day FedEx/UPS drops your new one off, not 14 days from the day you ask for the replacement. The shipping labels, so shipping is free for you, are in the box with the new nook.

Ah good deal. Yeah, I wasn't sure, didn't want to assume and neglected to really ask for details. Either way, it's been 6 business days since they said they would ship me the new Nook so I got antsy. When I called today, though, the person I talked to kind of made it seem like they didn't know they were supposed to mail me a Nook. :-P

Jamie (jlporter013) Received an email today from B&N! They're sending me a new Nook sometime this week, Monday at the latest. Woo!
