Is this a good sequel to the Gorgeous Chocolat?

Emma I loved this book...It gripped me from start to finish!!! Did other readers think it was a good follow up to "Chocolat" which I think is one of Harris's Best works of sensuous prose... Was it worth the wait of several years to hear where Vianne ended up??

Kath I didn't think I was going to enjoy it, but I was also gripped from start to finish. I loved it ALMOST as much as I loved "Chocolat"!
"The Lollipop Shoes" is one of those books that I was so sad when it was over. If only I could find another book as gripping...
I also really enjoyed "Five Quarters of the Orange". Those three are definitely my favourite Harris novels.
:)

Soooo excited!

Natalie The third book has just come out in hardback http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13... not read it yet but i plan to

Kaye Hagler A total J.H. fan - but still think her Third Quarters of an Orange hard to beat for the twist at the end - also loved Coastliners. Holy Fools not so much.

Emma I adore five quarters... I think JH writes wonderfully multi faceted characters, flawed and selfish at times, yet the magical quality of her settings, even in discussion of Wartime France, gives the stories a sheen!!

Linda I hadn't read the first novel, but read "The Girl with No Shadow" b/c I loved the movie so much. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, but found myself wishing I had more time to read so that I wouldn't have to put it down. Even though I can tell that they must have radically changed the story in order to make one of my favorite films (Chocolat), I'll probably read it now.

Margaret I liked this book even more than Chocolat...probably because i had seen the movie version of Chocolat before I read the book and I already had that vision of the story in my head. The Girl With No Shadow had more mystery and a certain sinister feeling that just kept me turning the pages as the tension mounted. I love the way Harris paints pictures with her words!

Karen Yes, it definitely is. In fact, I liked it even more than Chocolat. Peaches for Father Fancis is equally as good. Can't wait for her next book.

message 11: by Lena (new) - rated it 2 stars

Lena Blomme I liked chocolat more (here in Belgium the title was : red shoes)

message 12: by Aida (new)

Aida SNez I read these book when I was highly pregnant and also in the hospital, just a few hours before I gave birth to my daughter. Maybe just because that, I adore this book, such a beautiful and realistic fairy tale of the complex but great love between a mother and a daughter. For me, much better than "Chocolat"!

Nora Branch Library My absolute favorite is Gentlemen & Players. But the only terrible one is Blue-eyed Boy.
