Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments So, I think I've convinced Dave to sell his deck and albums, if he can get a good price for it.

We have no idea where to look to get a true valuation, though, so I'm hoping our lovely groupites could please lend a hand?

It's a Thorens TD 160 Super with a LIN BASIK LV V arm.

It needs a new belt. He'd like to sell it with a new belt, if one can be found.

I'm going to have him go through his albums this weekend.

Does anyone know of a good site for finding out what albums are worth?

Thanks everyone.

We both are grateful for any help at all.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Only site I would suggest is ebay to see what people are currently paying

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Jud.

Dave sez he'll look there again this evening. He's looked in the past but hasn't seen the same for sale.

He thinks it's quite a rare item.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I've been giving this some thought Patti and I'm wondering whether the best medium, at least for the vinyl, would be The Record Collector magazine. I must admit I haven't looked at since the web took over, so it might not bewhat it was, but it's worth a gander.

BTW, it's Robert Moog's birthday today.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Aw Geoff. You're terrific. Thank you. I'll have Dave check that out.

Who is Robert Moog?

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Go to Google and find out. He has a doodle

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh okay. Thanks.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments The inventor of the Moog synthesiser. I'll bet you've heard it so many times and not realised.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yep, you're right.

I'm bouncing up n down with excitement here.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Patti, the belt should be easy.

I've got a 35 year old Akos Rega deck, and I've just bought a new belt for 10 quid.

Go into your nearest proper hifi shop.

Better yet, keep the deck......

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh thanks Will. Yeah he found a shop in Cardiff, I think.

The deck is one the way here from Nigeria now. I expect once it's here in the flat he won't want to part with it. :(

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments No, no, no. Honestly Patti, apart from being a thing of beauty, the quality of the sound should be enough to make you want to keep it.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Shame the music he listens to is crap. :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh he typed out a list of all his albums for the shipping insurance.

If anyone is interested, give me your email and I'll forward a copy of the document. :p

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I think most of us can live without that!

And yes you do have my email, and no don't bother...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'll read it out next time we Skype.

You did that once before... or tried to.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No that was the albums in iTunes I think.

Did I tell you he has over a thousand albums in there now?

Talk about a huge pile of steaming crap...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Or rather, don't talk about it...
