Idea: A man is stalked by a Selkie (a kind of Fae) which he ends up befriending one day. A little while later, he starts dating a woman who is also Fae (can be any kind, really). Both the Selkie and the Fae instantly know what the other is, but neither can tell the man who the other is, as the world doesn't know that Fae exist and revealing yourself or others is punishable by death. The Selkie is also being pressured by his/her family to drown someone and become a 'true Selkie'.
