Bookworm Adventure Girl (bookwormadventuregirl) What are your favourite genres? Do you read different genres or only stick with one or two?

Are you a Stephen King fan?

Susan I will read just about anything except for self help books! Hmmm maybe that's what's wrong with me! Hahahaha I like all kinds of books really. Mystery, romance, chick lit, horror, romantic suspense, cozy, all of it!

Of course! ahah"

I knew it. I read 11/22/63 this year and loved it. This book doesn't fall under the horror or even mystery category but I really liked it.

Romance (sweet to naughty), Horror, Comtemp fic, chick fiction, Historical romance is huge like plus pirate ones. Syfy.. depending on the subject matter. Also I read children, tween and YA titles

biggest dislike.... memoirs

*Suzy (ereaderuser)* (suzyereaderuser) My favs are dystopia, apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, and of course zombies! I also love urban fantasy and mystery-crime thrillers. Lately I've been reading some YA also.

Mark Souza | 13 comments I read a variety including mysteries, thrillers, horror, science fiction, YA ..., I've even read a little romance and fantasy - though admittedly not much. My main requirement is the book has to be believable enough to transport me to another world and keep me moving. If the action slows so much that it pulls me out of the story, or something happens that just can't jibe with the new world I've entered, then I'm out.

I tend to have favorite authors more than favorite genres. Stephen King has written horror, YA (The Body, Carrie, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon), Sci-fi (The Running Man), literary fiction (Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and Delores Claiborne), as well as others, like The Green Mile, I have trouble classifying. When I find a writer I like, I'll read anything they put out no matter the genre.

Joy | 22 comments I used to read only Star Trek novels, then romance novels, paranormal, mysteries, thrillers, even classics. I just don't care for non fiction. I have even read young adult novels.

message 14: by Dana (new)

Dana "dew" (danadew) I mostly read Urban Fantasy/Paranoral romance (though I prefer it to be heavier on the paranormal and lighter on the romance); however, I love a good story --- regardless of "genre". (I'm also a Stephen King fan... LOVE Neil Gaiman as well.) I like mystery, thrillers, noir, m/m, steampunk, dystopian, YA, horror, etc...

message 15: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) I'll read just about anything with words, but my preference is for literary fiction ... either classics or contemporary.

message 16: by Luna (new)

Luna (lunaraven) | 6 comments I've always been very partial to fantasy. When I was younger, I could not stand books that did not have magical elements. I hated being made to read Alcott and Twain in school. I'm still very partial to fantasy, especially YA fantasy. I like epic fantasy, though I find that the genre tends to be a little dry and plots are repeated over and over. I also like science fiction as well as classical literature(on account of the lovely language).

message 17: by Bronda (new)

Bronda | 5 comments I read all kinds of books.
I love paranormal romance but it doesn't have to be that genre for me to read it.
If a book looks interesting enough, I will read it.
