I listened to this book on audio. I found it captivating I wanted to know what would happen next. I don't know that I'd have read it though, if it wasn't available on audio.

I read the novel and enjoyed it. Gave it 3 stars.

Read it last year. Gave it 3 stars.

Read it recently and enjoyed it, however wouldn't say it was a page turner that I was looking for. Would give it 3 stars.

I have read this book, and let me tell you. I am now a hard core Lippman fan !

Read it last year... I as well gave it 3 stars. Wasn't a page turner. It was just OK for me.

I read this book and can't say it really grabbed my attention but it had some interesting scenes.

I listened to the audio version, too. Here is my review:
"Enjoyable enough read if you like stories about a teen girl being kidnapped."

I was captivated by the story of Elizabeth/Eliza. As a 15 year old, she is kidnapped and held for an extended period of time. She survives, but how does this experience shape her life?

Eliza made choices in her life I could not imagine for myself. For much of the book, I did not like her. Her husband, the saintly Peter, is way too good to be true. But he is only a supporting character, in every sense of the word. Eventually, I respect Eliza.

I do not want to reveal too much of the story because I prefer to know little about a book when I approach it. I was intrigued and the story kept me rapt. There were surprises that I did not anticipate and I liked that. It was my first Laura Lippman, but it will not be my last. (I gave it 4 stars.)

Yup. I read this one this year. it was a 3 star book. I thought it was a bit cliché, but at least the cliché was a good one - teenage girl gets kidnapped for extended period and then has to deal with her kidnapper years later in what turns out to be an emotional intrusion on her otherwise plain jane adult life.

I had read and enjoyed all of Laura Lippman's Tess Monaghan series, so I was expecting this to be more of the same. How wrong can a person be? 4 stars.

I just read this book a few days ago. I would recommend the book for the story is very captivating, but I was not thrilled with the writing.

I read it last year, I found it very thought provoking, I literally read it in 2 days, could not put it down. The subject is tough, I left the lead in this was a victim, but she got herself beyond, its inspirational in a way

I barely made it through, the main characters were so irritating. There are a lot better authors out there IMHO.

Lori yes, I agree with you. It started out so good, but something about the relationship between the two main characters was creepy. I couldn't really put ...more
