Ellie and her twin Wyatt live with an abusive father and a mother who spends more time in prayer than with her family. After their mother dies, Ellie hires a nanny to keep her and Wyatt safe. Along with cook/housekeeper, Doris, Ellie and Wyatt exist, while the children try to keep away from their father. I was shocked with what happened as the two graduated from high school. This is a good read. I cheered for Ellie and Wyatt, and the rest of the main characters.
