I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll try it here. I'm fixing to start writing a novel, and I've got a couple of ideas swirling around in my head. One of them involves zombies, but I'm just curious if you guys think zombies are being overdone or not? I'm going to try and not make it a run-of-the-mill zombie book, but I'm wondering if anyone would actually read another book about zombies :3

I'd read a zombie novel :) as long as the main character doesn't fall in love with a zombie or something. :P
I'm not a zombie fan, and normally don't read books about them, but if they happen to be in a book I'm reading then so be it. Zombies could be a difficult story, especially if it's the main character. I'd say No they are not overdone.Write it, and go for it. Make it unique and when it's done, get the word out there about it. Good Luck, Hope it goes well for you.
I'm not a zombie fan either, unless it's a humorous novel or mystery, but not if it's a romance. Somehow zombies connote horror, not romance :P
From my personal experience: I have a book with zombies in it but they are not the main focus - the heroine fights them - and it doesn't seem to be doing as well as my books with gargoyles, vampires, or werewolves, especially gargoyles. My advice? write it; there is an audience out there and as long as it is written well, it will be read. Who knows? it might breath new life into zombies. (I can't believe I just said that; it was so cheesy.)
I've not read a lot of zombie books.... seen way to many zombie movies, but not a lot of printed stories. If the storyline of the book seemed good, I would write it. I think as a writer you have to tell the story that is in you and then find the audience for it, not the other way around.

I agree with you on both points.
Yay! Thank you all for your opinions, I really appreciate the help! I'm glad to know that people would still read them. I was just worrying myself that nobody would want to read it (if it ever gets published).I'm still working on the concept, but the MC will not be a zombie. I find that really awkward lol
My best advice-Stop thinking if you should write, can write, if people will read it, and JUST WRITE THE DARN THING! Once you've got it going, you'll be able to answer you're own questions. That's how I learned.
I'm agreeing with Anne right above me. It's good advice.I actually saw a zombie romance novel a little while back. Saw it. Didn't read it. I was afraid to. Actually, I think it was an erotic romance. My mind just can't wrap around that, to be honest. So, yeah, as long as it doesn't involve zombie lovin', I do enjoy a good zombie... whatever. Movie. Book. Game. (There's nothing more relaxing than killing a horde of virtual zombies with a frying pan. Just sayin'.)

I don't no if the zombie isn't falling apart and smelly I don't see why they couldn't be some zombie lovin. If u take the smell and detachable pieces they are like vampires I guess. Ill stick with my vampire lovin but I guess it is possible. I have never read a zombie book other than Anita Blake but I would just haven't really found one that I like yet :)
Go write it if that's what the ppl in your head are talking about put it on paper you never no unless you go for it. Goodluck
I wouldn't mind reading another book about zombies. As long as it isn't like repeating or a cliche of other works. i think new and fresh idea then yeah i'd read it. :)
