Hello Andy, welcome to the group. Thanks for stopping by to introduce yourself, and best of luck with your writing.
My name is Andrew Barrett and I live and work in West Yorkshire. I began writing horror 20 years ago, and after a few lousy attempts, managed to get Charlotte's Lodge into the 'reasonable' category.
Not long after this, I landed a job as a Crime Scene Examiner and so I put aside my love of horror for crime stories featuring, wait for it... a crime scene examiner - something quite original back then. A Long Time Dead fell out of my computer sometime around '98 or '99, the follow-up, Stealing Elgar around a year or two later, with the end of the trilogy, No More Tears arriving 2003.
I was very pleased, especially by Elgar, and began what was to become a huge story called The Third Rule. Eighteen months and 200k words later, I dived into scriptwriting with a friend of mine, and late last year returned to The Third Rule and added another 80k or so words. It's with a reader just now, but I have to say I found my voice and am delighted by what has become a series of three books exploring life in England where conveyor-belt justice in the form of capital punishment is handed out to convicted criminals and unfortunate innocents alike.
Then, in 2011, I discovered Kindle.
Thanks for looking,
Andy
