I've actually started to buy this series but I haven't gotten around to it, but am looking forward to it. Other series I want to read are the Wardstone Chronicles and Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

I've read part of the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series and they're great books, I think they would be a good choice.
