* Title: House by the Bo Tree
* Author(s) name(s): Ruth Seamands
* ISBN (or ASIN): B0006BZDVY
* Publisher: Word Books, Incorporated; Waco Texas
* Publication date: 1969
* Format: Hardcover
* Description: [I typed it directly from the jacket flap of our copy:]

Far from being the dull, somber, pious, hymn-singing stereotype, the Seamands family were people with a zest for life--and for them, it was life in a house by a Bo tree in India.

Meet J. T., the original, red-headed, absent-minded professor. Who else would discuss theistic evolution (in simple English) while preparing a sandwich for his daughter and then, deep in thought, eat it himself? The same man who would drive off to a formal dinner party at the Rajah's palace--and forget to take his dressed and waiting wife.

And Ruth had her moments too. For example, there was the time she appeared before a large Los Angeles audience with bangs still held firmly in place with shiny bobby pins.

Mix this with four irrepressible daughters and a house with wild civet cats in the attic, monkeys on the roof, poisonous snakes in the bathroom and cobras, deer, cats, dogs, and a pony in the yard--and you have a warm, delightfully human and sensitive account of the life and loves of the Seamands family. Love for each other, for God, and for their adopted India.

For twenty years this lively and unpredictable family worked as missionaries in South India. The always delicate and difficult encounter between two cultures, two religions, two peoples is personalized in the story telling by Mrs. Seamands of adventures and misadventures. In House by the Bo Tree, humor, mishap, and fun combined with inspiration give a glimpse into the life of an unforgettable missionary family.

Kim | 607 comments Does this have an actual ISBN? That ASIN is invalid as this is a hardcover book, that's just an Amazon product code. ASIN are only valid for Kindle books. If it doesn't have an ISBN that is ok but we need to know.

Abigail (handmaiden) | 85 comments I have a copy of the actual book and it does not have an ISBN. I tried to find an ISBN online and that is what I came up with--sorry that it's the wrong thing!
