question
Most upsetting death in The Hunger Games trilogy?

A Hunger Games discussion by http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/46...
I think Rue's and Prim's death really hurt me the most. Rue was so sweet. She saved Katniss' life before even knowing her. ue was so confident and caring. And PRIM?!?!? Katniss volenteered to save her, and she ends up dying? She was so sweet and sensitive. She didn't like hunting with Katniss because she would never like seeing the dead animals. They are both so amazing! What the bread?!

Rue, Cinna, Finnick, Prim, no doubt about it. However, I did cry at pretty much every death, no lie.
Finnick and prim's...
All katniss wanted to do was keep her alive but then Gale kinda killed her...
And finnick's, well... he wasmy FAVORITE character in the books so to me his was really upseting

the most upsetting death for me was Cato. He was a career but they way he died was gruesome and not something he(or anyone) deserved.
Finnick, Cinna and Prim =/

Definitely Prim is the primary death here. Personally, I cried when Rue died, and went crazy when Cinna died. When I read Prim's death, the words were inscribed into my head, and I felt like my own sister had been taken from me, and I went crazy and wept at the same time. To say the least, I'm maybe overemotional with this trilogy.
Cinna and Prim
Mostly prim because I have my own sister I have sworn to protect and if she was to die on my watch I would break every bone in the body or her killer let them suffer then kill them!!!!!!!
And Cinna because he was there for Katniss and jus like all the people that are there for me they just vanish or turn into anther person all together:'(

it didnt really hit me hard with rues death.... but the one character that i actually cried for was finnick :(
I think Prim's death was more of an impact, even though Finnick's death was what made me upset the most, though I think I would have been more emotional if S.C actually wrote deaths scenes better. But that's just me.
Prim! It was really one of those throw the book down and cry for a few minutes type scenario...not that i did that.
I think it is a tie between Prim, Rue, and Finnick. I was pissed at all three. O_O
Cinna, Rue, Finnick and Mags. I got teary eyed on Rue and Mags death but Cinna and Finnick's is just ahkhdjahdja. sorry can't find a word for it.
Cinna because his death was the first I wasn't prepared for and then I knew no one was safe.
For me it was Prim and Finnik a close second, For me, they were also the most surprising.
Prim was the worst, but then probably Finnick and Cinna.

I completely agree! I saw this question and thought the same two..RUE and PRIM....sometimes you can't save the only person/thing you're fighting for to keep...that's life...but it sucks

I cried when Rue and Prim died. When Prim died, I didn't quite get when she was floating on the foam?
I wish the author emphasized Prim's death more. It felt like Katniss just brushed it off her sleeve.

I think that it is a tie between finnick, prim, and rue they were all soooooo cute and nice to katniss and did not deserve to die! :(

I thought Prim's death was really sad. Katniss ENTERED the H/G because of her and she just ended up DIEING!! WTF? was really sad.
But Finnick's death was also really sad 'cause his wife (anna is it?) needs him to be there for him so she can stay "firmly planted on the ground" and HE DIES!!!What happens to her?? *weeping histarically*

Finnick, because it's not given much thought at the time- they have to move on very quickly after his death and it's just like
it left me with the feeling of WAIT WHAT NO NO NO THAT'S WRONG
I had to read that section a couple times to really register that it had happened.
The manner of Rue's death was upsetting, but ultimately I KNEW she was going to die. Everyone had to die for there to be a winner, so it wasn't the fact that she'd died that was upsetting, it was just the whole setup of the scene that was so heartbreaking.

For me Rue and Prims deaths were the worst for me. I actually started crying when Rue died in the film. :(
I'd say that Rue was the saddest. Prim's wasn't that sad because it happened so fast. I think Finnick came in second.

Gah! This is a big one. Understand that this is one of my typical teenager rants.
RUE: I HAD TO READ THE SENTENCE A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT SHE DIED. THEN, THE TEARS STARTED FLOWING. I THINK I CRIED FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES BEFORE I FINALLY COULD READ THAT KATNISS COVERED HER IN FLOWERS. THAT MADE ME CRY SOME MORE.
CINNA: OMFG I WAS SO MAD AT THE CAPITOL. INSTEAD OF MY REGULAR "SIT THERE CRYING FOR A LONG TIME" IT WAS MORE LIKE "CRY AND PUNCH THE BOOK A LOT" I WAS SOOOO MAD. THE BOOK WAS KINDA ROUGHED UP AFTER MY INITIAL ANGER SUBSIDED.
FINNICK: TRUTHFULLY, I CAN'T REMEMBER THIS DEATH VERY WELL, BUT I REMEMBER CRYING A BUNCH. I AM STILL REALLY MAD AT SUZANNE COLLINS FOR KILLING HIM.
PRIM: THIS WAS PROBABLY THE WORST FOR ME. I WAS SO UPSET AND ANGERED. I HAD TO READTHIS ONE TOO BEFORE I GOT THEMESSAGE THAT THE BOMBS KILLED PRIM. I COULD RELATE TO PRIM. MY DOG DIED FROM RUNNING AT ME AND SCARING ME OFF THE ROAD WHEN I WAS SIX, KILLING HIM TOO. ANYWAY, I PUNCHED THE BOOK AGAIN A LOT.
In the end, my books were kinda soggy and beat up looking... Oops.

Finick! I really, really liked him. And his death didn't even do anything for the story :( it was so pointless. I mean, I loved Cinna and Prim, abd their deaths were sad, but they kind of had to happen, that was the way it was, it had to happen for the story to progress. Finick did not have to die! Nothing came of his death at all...I think that's why I found it the hardest to take, because there was no reason for it.
Prim, Finnick, Rue and Cinna! :(

that is exactly what I was about to type! I %100 agree!!!!!
The fact that Rue and Prim's deaths are so well-written makes one heart-breaking (Rue) and one shocking (Prim). At the end, all that Katniss has left is Peeta, and then, her kids. You would think that the author would allow her to have Prim too!
But Rue's death was so beautifully played out I cried, when I didn't cry over Prim. Also, you get more attached to Rue, and miss her more when she dies, because she is so sweet and innocent. But the fact that Katniss volunteered for Prim in book one gives us an awful conclusion: it was all for nothing. And, if she was in the Games, Prim at least had a slim chance of survival. And the fact that Gale probably indirectly killed her is sad, too, but in my view, Gale has been a bit strange from the start.

I feel like Finnick's death wasn't justified. I understand Prim's, and Rue's (since she's a tribute).
Death of the old man from district Eleven (Book 2).
Rue & Prim-Innocent and sweet, cried for both of them cause they both died tring to help others
Cinna-WHY!!?? he was probaly the only decent capitol guy
Finnick-he is one of those people you get attched to when you know the real them
Boggs- ok he may not be the first but he defintly made my heart twist. He was sweet, stuck up for katniss, made it possible to get to the capitol and had a little kid

I think Prims death was the saddest I've read it 7 times and still cant believe it. Prim just seemed so young and gentle. Rues death was also very sad but I was expecting it to happen so that didn't make it as sad, still I cried a lot, not as much as Prim dying though. Finnicks death was also upsetting, he had just found happiness with Annie and then died a truly gruesome death, it must have been horrible for him not to see his child. I probably cried at all of the deaths of the characters the author really introduced deeply because there deaths made it seem as though l had lost a friend. All of the characters didn't deserve to die they were either to young or to gentle or to caring or a different reason.
FINNICK! Oh, that was SO unnecessary! What point did his death show? None. That's right, none! He was finally reunited with Annie Cresta, and he was going to be a father! *cries*
Prim: Her death was sad, but it was necessary. Katniss did all she could to protect her. Prim was the symbol of hope and innocence, and her death showed that in a time of war and suffering, these things are easily destroyed. As sad as her death was, it was necessary.
Rue: ;( The poor 12 year old tribute from District 11. She was created to mirror Prim. She reminded Katniss of her sister and when she died it tore a part in her heart. It made her want to protect Prim more in a way, which made Prim's death even worse for Katniss.
Cinna: ;( This. Death. Was. Terrible. Cinna was the only person who truly understood Katniss! He cared for her and wanted her to win. He was always there for her, she could be herself around him. He was beaten right before Katniss eyes before entering the Quarter Quell, then he was tortured to death. *cries*

I have to say, I was surprised when Prim died, but not really sad. I bawled when Finnick died though. He was supposed to live happily-ever-after with Annie, but he ended up dying and leaving her alone. That upset me the most. After all that time of being crazy together and getting engaged (did they marry? its been a while since i read the book), I wanted them to have a long beautiful life together. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
Finnick and Prim. Rue's death was sad but I knew it would happen. Cinna's death was very sad. I liked him. But Finnick and Prim's death was a shock and I didn't see them coming and hated it. I hated that they died.
RUE AND CINNA!!!! Both my favourite characters next to katniss
Hard to say. Rue and Prim were both innocent little girls who didn't even deserve to be there. Got swept in by bad luck. Cinna chose to be a part of the rebellion and I think he was fully aware that he was going to end up dying. Finnick had just gotten married and was going to live happily ever after and then bam! He dies. Madge was the spoiled pampered mayors daughter, yet she was kind to Katniss even before she was famous. She just had the bad luck of her dad being the Mayor of District 12 instead of any other. Mags was a poor old lady who died to save Katniss Peeta and Finnick. That was sad. Wiress just randomly gets her throat slit. Many more deaths were random and frankly kind of sad
Finnick was the hardest for me to actually accept. Rue was sad, but was kind of a given, with the parameters of the Hunger Games -- all but one (well, two with the new rule) would die. Prim didn't really hit me because I didn't feel like I got attached to her through the books the way I did Rue and Finnick; yes, Katniss volunteered to save her, but I couldn't feel as sad about it because Katniss had a relationship with her, not me as a reader - that relationship just wasn't talked about as much.
Finnick hit me, though. From the revelation that the second book would be sending victors back in to the games, I didn't expect the rules from the other games to hold - all bets were off, and I figured they'd get out of the games somehow, whether by not starting in the first place or by actual escape. He made it out of that arena, and with his relationship with Annie ... I just didn't see it coming. I was both attached, and blindsided.

Why, Suzanne, WHY did you have to kill Finnick, my favorite charecter in the hunger games trilogy?!?!?!
Finnick and primrose death that's really hurt at the end of series.
The most upsetting death in this series will always belong to beautiful Rue.
FINNICK and Prim.
FINNICK I just still cant believe it. He died.in only one line and after BYEYE ... I loved him and his death was like if it was nothing... He didnt need to die his death was really pointless... I dont know why the author killed him. :(
