Blaine Ney | 2 comments I'm new to this group and have an early request. I'm traveling to Thailand soon and am looking for some suggestions to compliment my trip. I'm in my early 30s, so no young adult, please. I tend to gravitate to styles similar to Safran Foer, Vonnegut, Chabon, and Bellow, and also to some that are perhaps a little more heady, such as Kundera, Saramago, and Bolano. My guilty pleasure is Wodehouse. Can anyone help me out?

Anthony Cardenas (aecardenas) | 44 comments Have you tried Haruki Murakami's books, such as The Wind Up Bird Chronicles? Or the books of Kazuo Ishiguro, like Never Let me Go or The Unconsoled?

Enjoy Thailand!

I suggest try something Asian, something Filipino maybe. Try reading works by Jessica Hagedorn or the book Ilustrado by M Syjuco, which won the Man Asian Award

Blaine Ney | 2 comments I think I'm sold on The Wind Up Bird Chronicles. Thank you both for your suggestions.

Kristen | 3 comments I realize you have alreadymade your trip and had, what sounds like, a fantastic selection, but I wanted to make another suggestion if you are looking for a good read again soon.

WATDOT: List of Twenty by Dan Koepke

The web site has a lot of great information about the book and upcoming pieces that Dan is working on. WATDOT was suggested to me by a friend and I'm thankful that she did. It was a great book and I highly suggest to anyone else looking for a good book.
