Liam sat in the cave in the forest. It was the main gathering point for all the fairies in his clan. He was thinking about his past. His power-hungry family and his old love...What was he gonna do with his mind? He needed a vacation. He smirked. Yeah right. They were planning a raid in the castle scheduled next week. Now was not the time for a mental breakdown.
{Wait-is Wren his 'old love'? Is that what you meant when you said, someone Liam used to know? That would be really cool. And dramatic. :D}Wren was high up in a tree, balanced on a very thin branch. She was staring intently at a creeping vine hanging from the next tree over. With an effortless wave of her hand, the vine began to sway, forward and back, forward and back, slowly gaining speed. Soon the vine was whizzing toward Wren, and she snatched it quickly when it came close enough. Then, she wrapped her hands and feet around the vine and let go of the tree branch she was perched on. She flew through the gap between the two trees, the wind blowing her brown hair out of her eyes. She grabbed hold of the next tree at the last second, and let go of the vine. Thanks to her power of controling plants, this was Wren's main way of travel. Shepreferred to be up high, where she could see all, but was invisible to everyone else, who she privately refered to as 'Groundlings'. Also, she found vine-swinging at these great heights exhilarating, which most people would find terrifying.
Wren sat in the tree for a moment, surveying the ground far below. She saw a deer, silently eating from a patch of grass, undisturbed by her swing, which had been quiet, as always. A few yards over was a cave. It was fairly hidden by vines and ivy, but not to the keen eyesight of Wren from above. She could tell that this was obviously disquised on purpose, and was curious as to why. She soundlessly climed down from the tree and creeped towards the cave entrance. A faint rustling came from within. Someone was there. Wren held her breath, and cautiously peeked inside.
{I might have been considering that...Translate to: YEAHS!!!}
Liam could've sworn he heard a faint rustle. He examined his options:
Quickly turn around to face entrance...Bu then the thing would run away.
Stay where he was until it approached futher.
He decided on the second option and so stayed put.

{Okay. When did Wren and Liam last see each other? Because it would be kinda wierd if they loved each other when they were, like, ten. Should we say they met when they were, say, fifteen, when both of them had already run away away? Also, currently, Wren is eighteen and Liam is twenty-two. Should I make Wren older?}
{The whole being fifteen thing works perfect. It's up to you with Wren's age. Maybe make her 19? I'unno. I don't think it matters much.}
{Yeah, I agree. I'll just make her nineteen.}Wren saw a boy sitting with his back to her in the cave. Wait, no. He had the wings of a fairy. They shined in the sunlight that filtered in from the outside of the cave. He was perfectly silent. He knew she was there, that much was clear. Wren stepped into the cave, and he slowly turned around."Who are-" Wren began, but she stopped whe n she looked into his ocean-blue eyes, and it all came flooding back. "Liam," She whispered.

She was fifteen. Perched in a tree, when she heard a rustling behind her. She turned around, startled to see a boy climbing up the tree she was in. He lifted himself up easily onto Wren's branch, and then looked up. His startled eyes met hers. His fairy wings lifted him a little off the branch in surprize. Wren looked at him, curiously. "Who are you?" she asked, her eyes still locked with his.
"Liam," he answered.
"Your eyes are like the ocean, Liam," Wren replied, plainly. He smile at her, unfazed by the strange comment.
And so it began. Love at first sight. Wren remembered the rest in a blur. His beautiful eyes, looking at her lovingly. His hand, taking hers, as he guided her through the sky on his wings. The kiss. His last words: "I will see you again. I love you, Wren."
~~~
"Wren." There he stood, four years later, a memory that was no longer just a memory.
She closed her eyes a moment, overwhelmed by the sight of him. When she opened hef eyes, she found them wet with tears. "Liam," she said again. She knew no other words.
{Aeww, it was so cute! /gushymoment}
Liam finally decided to turn around and confront the thing. And there she was. Wren. And as she whispered his name that night rushed to the front of his mind. He was on the run, and he had come across this wonderful girl. But that was four years ago, and Liam was different. He didn't even know if he was capable of loving someone. He recalled soaring through the air with his wings-wings of varying shades of blue-with her grasping his hand tightly. He remembered her lips on his...but mostly he remembered the pain. And he knew he couldn't deal with the pain again.
"Wren," he stated in a monotone voice. He stood up and dusted himself out. "What are you doing here?"
His voice was meloncholy. Full of struggling indifference. And pain. I will see you again. Liam's words echoed in Wren's head .A part of her yearned to be close to him, to be held in his arms again. But she pushed it roughly away. She remembered her own pain. He had left her washed away in hurt and longing. Then, she had told herself to forget him. To leave her love behind, forever. Love made you weak, and left you with nothing but pain. "I wondered who had disguised this cave," she replied, her face blank.
Wren narrowed her eyes. "I'm NOT with THEM," she growled. Her gaze sofened. "I'm different. I'm a traitor. And also... I assume you remember this." She lifted her hand, and a vine slithered into the cave. She made it gently reach out to Liam.
Liam almost smiled at the vine reaching for his hand. It tickled a bit.
"Excuse me for questioning, but this matters to me greatly. How do I know you're not just undercover?"
"Excuse me for questioning, but this matters to me greatly. How do I know you're not just undercover?"
{Uhhh...God that was a hard question...OOOOOO!! HOLY SOCKS!!! Maybe some fairies like Liam can like, mentally relive thoughts, memories, and feelings of another when given permission? Then Wren could let him do that to ensure she's good.}
{Yeah! I love that!!! :D}"Find out for yourself," Wren replied. "I give you permission." She hated to remember, but he had to know the truth. Six years. Six years ago she had left her elven life behind, forever.
Being born an elf had not been Wren's choice. In fact, she would rather have been born anything else, to rid heself the label of bloodthirsty, fairy-hater. Most elves worshipped this 'noble, warriorlike' title, and would give anything tohave a high-up elven general father such as Wren's. But Wren hated her father. He came home every night speaking of 'very secret plans' to destroy the fairy race, and always complained of how 'horrible' the fairies were. One night, Wren's father came home broodng over the castle raid that had happened that day. "Some new clan, full of sniveling fairies and traitorous halfbloods arranged it," he grumbled. Wren couldn't help smiling. But, unluckily, her mother saw her and shot her an accusing glare. All Wren's nights went on like this, silently rooting for the 'enemy' and getting disapproval from her parents.
The only way she escaped it all was by going into the forest, secetly. It was her small act of rebellion from her parents. But one day, she was spotted by her father before he went to work. "YOU," he bellowed. "You KNOW that the forest is full of those fairies. You are forbiden to go there."
Wren had had enough. "NEVER! I'll NEVER do what you say! Fairies only fight to get their boundaries back! YOU fight because you're all power-hungry fools! You're afraid of them! Because they can fly, and they're so swift and cunning. Well I' NOT afraid of them, and I DON'T hate thm. I admire them, and I HATE you!" Wren's father stared at her in and wordless anger. But before he could say a thing, Wren ran as fast as she could into the forest. Before she dissappeared from view, she yelled to the tny shape that was her father, "Someday, you will see me fighting alongside the fairies, and you will see the mistake you've made!"
Wren's parents never came to look for Wren in the forest, and she never went back.
{That was REALLY good. I love Wren's outlook.}
Liam was surprised she knew he could relive her memories, but with her permission he gently put his hands on her face.
After a wave of painful and betrayed memories, Liam was positive Wren was on his side. Her past was so much like his it startled him.
"Wren," he said it again, this time smiling. He dropped his left hand before slowly bringing down his right hand, caressing her face. Then he pulled her into a tight hug. Not only had he just gotten a new ally, he had gotten his best friend back.
{Thank you! :)}Tears rolled silently down Wren's face. She wrapped her arms around Liam's neck and smiled, sadly. "Oh, how I've missed you, Liam," she whispered. Without meaning to, Wren relaxed her hands, and two vines lifted off the cave floor and wrapped around her and Liam, gently.
Liam could feel a tear escaping from his eye, as Wren cried into his chest. He could feel the vines wrapping around his legs and connecting him to Wren, and he didn't care.
"I missed you more than you could ever understand," he murmured, holding her close to him with one hand on her waist, and rubbing her back with the other hand.
Wren wanted nothing more than to stay frozen in this moment, forever, with him. She looked into his eyes again. "Don't ever leave me again, Liam," she whispered.
Liam knew this was a bad promise to make. What if he died in battle? What if...Screw it.
"Only if you never leave me." The he leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips, hoping to feel the same happiness in doing so that he had years before.
Love consumed Wren's entire being. Somewhere outside the cave, a tree's branches shook vigorously. "I love you," Wren murmered. Those words were her heart, and Liam was her soul. She was fifteen again, kissing the boy with wings under a willow tree in the forest. Wren gently lifted Liam's hand to her face, so they could share this memory.
Liam smiled into the kiss when she muttered "I love you", and this smile grew as she shared her memory of their first kiss with him. He used his free hand to pull her closer as they relived it.
{This is amazing. Fictional love is the bomb. :)}Wren gently pulled away for a moment. She caressed his face lovingly. "I must know something. The day I left, my father mentioned a clan. You know of it, don't you?"
Wren frowned. "Are you okay, Liam?" she asked, worriedly. "I just want to find them. I want to fight." He looked so... not like him... in that moment. She found herself wishing she hadn't said anything. But the matter was so urgent..."I thought that since you seem to know your way around the forest, you would know something about them." She held his hand in hers. "What's wrong?"
Liam took a deep breath, closing his eyes. Should he tell her? It could make her scared...What would the rest of his clan think? There were only a few traitor elves...
"I...I AM that clan. I run it. I lead it. I breathe, bleed, don't sleep, and don't eat for it. I was planning a raid when you crept in."
Wren's heart burst with admiration. "Liam! That's amazing! You're amazing!" She smiled at him. "I can help you. The-the plants..." she trailed off, getting lost in his eyes, again. "I love you, Liam. I'll fight for you, always."
Liam let out his breath. That was a good reaction. "Thank you, Wren. I will fight for you...We will fight for each other." He gave her another kiss on her lips, savouring the moment, and how she made him feel less tired and hungry.
Wren noticed Liam's hunger and fatigue. When she had kissed him back lovingly, she said, "I'll be back in a second." and slipped out of the cave. It had gotten dark, but Wren lifted her hands in front of her and felt an apple tree nearby. She walked a little farther and put her hand out. A tree branch came down, two apples growing on it. She picked them off and went back to the cave."Here," Wren said to Liam, and put an apple in his hand. "You can have this one, too if you want," she held out the other apple.
Liam gave a light laugh when Wren came back from her mysterious departure with two apples.
"Oh Wren. I love you," he stated as he took his apple. He ate it quickly, but refused her apple.
Wren frowned in mock disapproval. "Are you not aware that it takes me five seconds or less to get more apples? Eat it." She smiled. "Please?"
When she smiled he finally gave in. He munched on the second apple before stopping to talk. "I'm so used to feeding everyone else...Hey, we're having a clan meeting here tomorrow. You wanna come and be introduced?"
Liam laughed at her. "Of course you do.
{The clan goes wherever during night, I think. So...I guess sleep?}
After talking for another half hour or so, Liam was exhausted. He walked to the back of his cave and pulled out a stack of blankets. He threw them over himself and Wren before falling instantly to sleep.
Wren watched his weary eyes for a while, glad that he was finally getting some sleep. Then she neatened up the cave a little, herding the scattered vines back outside, and then fell asleep beside Liam. Her dreams were no longer of her father, mercilessly slaying fairies in his path, but of Liam, of loving Liam for forever and beyond.
