Sci-Fi writing - challenge?

Who has had a go at writing sci-fi? A difficult genre? Perhaps, despite its popularity, it is hard to produce really good sci-fi. We get comparatively fewer sci-fi submissions in the main app than other genres. The same with fantasy? What do you think?

Sci-fi is probably 80% of my output as far as writing goes. I cover general SF but also do Mil-SF as well as I am ex-forces.

I've produced over 40 short e-stories in less than a year and most of my stuff is available for free on Smashwords & Feedbooks. I've also got 1 title on sale (for very cheap) on Amazon (called Tesla's Grave).

My last 2 stories featured time travel in alternate Universes and a look into the Terminator Universe.
