Pogue (nulaanne) | 113 comments I read this book along time ago. I do not remember when late 80's up to the mid 90's. I did not get to finish reading the book as it had to ge back to the library. This is what I remember.

The story takes place on earth in the far future, people in the this future have no race they are all of a light brown skin tone. At any point in time a person can take their body and have it turned into anything imagined.

One of the girls is at a party for a friend of hers who just had a birthday, and she for the party became this mist thing. The other girl wants to change into something other than a boring human, and her parents won't let her until her 18th birthday.

The world is ruled by a councle that governs the computer, and it is distroyed/crashed/shutdown. All, that everyone knew is gone. The only ones who know how to survive are the people who do reinactments. The girls father is a blacksmith or they know a blacksmith. Camping skils come in handy too.

I would realy like to re-read and finish this book. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sue Elleker | 1054 comments It's a series by John Ringo;
Council Wars
1. There Will Be Dragons (2003)
2. Emerald Sea (2004)
3. Against the Tide (2005)
4. East of the Sun, West of the Moon (2006)
"In the future there is no want, no war, no disease or ill-timed death. The world is a paradise - and then, in a moment, it ends. The council that controls the Net fragments and goes to war, leaving people who have never known a moment of want or pain wondering how to survive."
