I'm finally settling down to read Robin McKinley's Sunshine - having heard such good things. Of course everything will be set aside when Magic Strikes arrives, and I got the shipping notice for that on Thursday. =)

At the moment I'm on the 4th one, Deathwish. Is that the one you're referring to? If so, then yes and it is really good so far.
Ol thx YZ but no I had to but a new one because the guy I got to fx it ended up taking it apart a didn't know jow to pit it together again
lol wow that comment was all messed up. I guess you got the jist of it. I'm glad to be back with you guys. I haven't been reading because I missed the challenges. My addiction to your challenges and goodreads had me in a funk.
Jael ...loved Kitty Raises Hell the fifth one really set the stage well. I hope you enjoy it and welcome back.
I started How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire and something about the book is off, I mean I don't hate but it just feel blah.
Thx Dawn once I finished DMH I ran to target to pick up KRH I think this is truly one of those series that get better with each book
Just finished The Love Potion by Sandra Hill which was a really cute romance. Now I'm starting Death's Daughter, I just sort of picked it up on a whim at B&N. I think because the cover was an attractive blue lol. Hope it's good :)
Jess wrote: "Just finished The Love Potion by Sandra Hill which was a really cute romance. N..."Sandra Hill is one of the first romance authors I ever read. Her Viking series is really cute too.
In a miraculous stroke of good luck, I got my copy of Magic Strikes in the mail yesterday and quickly devoured it. An amazing book, and by far the best in the series. Fans of Kate and The Beast Lord will not be disappointed! Now, when does book four come out... ;)
DarkHeart wrote: "In a miraculous stroke of good luck, I got my copy of Magic Strikes i..."Oh Darkheart how you tease me so. Now I have to go searching for it. That beastlord gets me going.
I am like two chapters away from finishing the second book in the Blacck Dagger Brotherhood series, which is killing me because I'm stuck at work and would much rather be reading.
Lori wrote: "I am like two chapters away from finishing the second book in the Blacck Dagger Brotherhood series, which is killing me because I'm stuck at work and would much rather be reading."I hate being stuck at work, or stuck doing work when all you really want to do is curl up and read :(
Jael & Shazzy - I was amazed to find that Barnes & Noble shipped my pre-order out last Thursday and by how quickly I got it (overseas military mail can be slow at times). And trust me, Jael, the Beast Lord is awesome in this one!
And I'm right there with you, Shazzy, reading all the little bits on their site. Even though they've finished the draft of book four, I have a horrible feeling we'll have to wait a year for it. Do you know if that's the case?
Shazzy, I know, I know. It's wrong to want book 4 when book 3's official release date hasn't even passed yet - but oh how they tease us with those snippets. I am really looking forward to Andrea and Raphael's short story in Must Love Hellhounds and On the Edge. I hadn't heard of Silent Blade before, but that looks interesting as well. Sci-fi is a bit of a departure for them, but could be really good.
I jumped the gun a bit and am reading Iron Kissed - but that means I'll be ready for next month's discussion! So far so good.
Shazzy, I must admit that while I love Ilona Andrews, I've never been of fan of the covers. Had a friend not pressed me to read Magic Bites, I would have completely passed them over (yeah, I'm a sad cover snob - LOL). However, I'm definitely looking forward to On the Edge (Fabio look-alike on the cover aside).Have they placed the Alpha Men chapters somewhere outside of the blog, or do I have to sift through it to read them?
Sweet, I'll have to check it out when I get home (there's only so much goofing off at work a girl can do). ;)
I've just started to get "into" The Mystery of Grace... I adore Charles deLint, but if I get too interested in a book during the week I skimp on my work to read it :-)
I'm into the second book of the Anita Blake series and I'm really hoping they pick up. I must admit that so far, I'm not that impressed with them.edit to correct spelling
Dawn: Did you finish How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire? You're right that there was something off about it. I liked the highlanders and the fact that he's a scientist...but the romance aspect fell totally flat.
I think the second in the series is about vamps on a reality TV show? Could be funny. Could be horrendous.

Out of all the books in the series, I liked the first one the least. If that helps at all lol. I would try the next one just to be sure.
Just finished The Cajun Cowboy by Sandra Hill. Definitely a funny series! I think next I will be reading one of Feehan's Drake books. Although, I don't know which one in the series it is. Knowing me, I'm probably reading it out of order.
Jess: Thanks for weighing in. I've grown accustomed to the idea that many of these series start out blah, then get dramatically better by book #2. The wrap up of Millionaire, with the showdown and the government agency, wasn't bad so I guess I'll give the next a shot! You seem to read lots of things out of order, don't you? LOL.
Michelle M nope I I read a little here and there but it still has not grabbed me so for the most part it is still sitting in the pile. I like the highlanders and I even like the part where all the vamps are like we are sick of our women LOL...the romance is just taking to long and well I just want some action and no a stupid car chase. I need violence and sex and passion, so far not feeling it.I picked up Zen and the Art of Vampires I thought it was a stand alone but after reading it I can tell it must be part of a series anyway that was a fun read some interesting twist and it flowed well.
Now I am FINALLY reading Men of the Otherworld and I am loving it. I always knew Jeremy was something special with the symbols and everything and who knew Malcolm could be such an ass. OH and I love Clayton what a cute kid even then he saw Jeremy as his alpha.
Michelle M. wrote: "Jess: Thanks for weighing in. I've grown accustomed to the idea that many of these series start out blah, then get dramatically better by book #2. Then I realized my mistake after reading the book, went back to the libary and thought I got the first book only to realize it was the second. Sigh. I read the series completely backwards. :(
Dawn I also read Macalister's Dark ones a bit backwards. They need to put some more labels on these books, for people like me. :)
I agree! The worst is when I'm just browsing, which I do quite a bit lol. I pick up a book it looks good, I scan the inside cover and there's no mention of a series. I read it, realize I'm missing something, check goodreads and low and behold I've just read book 12 lol. It never fails...
Jess Are you reading her darkness chosen series man that was great there was only one bad one and I will not ruin it for you but I did enjoy it. BTW it is better if you read them in order so you are familiar with he characters but not a huge deal if you don't.Michelle M & Jess: RIGHT hello dark ones #X something lol
I usually don't have high expectations of first series books since they try to do so much world building. I just read so many books at once that unless you are better then the next one you just kind of hang out until either I am bored or something in the book catches my attention. Sadly Millionaire is just sitting.
Bonnie wrote: "Just started Made to Be Broken (Nadia Stafford 2). Can't wait to read more. :)"I'll be anxious to hear what you think. The series looks interesting, although I gather it isn't paranormal. Kelley's great though, so I'll have to check it out at some point.
I am reading In Twilight's Shadow by Patti O'Shea, and it is really good. I am also reading Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole, though I put it aside til I am done with Twilight's Shadow.
Bonnie wrote: "Just started Made to Be Broken. Can't wait to read more. :)"Oh Kelley.. I was a little disappointed with Made to be Broken. The story was interesting but I hate cliffhangers. Let me know what you think of it?
I don't remember who asked... but someone asked me which series by Dodd I read backwards lol. It was the Darkness Chosen series. I still have to read book 1. I'm not all that impressed with the series overall. Could be because I didn't read it correctly. But I don't know. I'm not all that interested by the hero's. I think both of the ones I read about were asses lol. But I will soldier on and read the last book (which in my case is the first book) sometime soon.
Darn Jess. Now I know there's going to be a cliffhanger. Oh well -- probably should have expected it, I guess. I'll let you know what I think.
Just finished book three of Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lover Awakened. It was definatelty my favorite so far. I am way hooked on this series, although I'm somehow not anticipating book four as much, I guess because it focuses on Butch and I havent been into him that much. So, hopefully I will end up pleasantly surprised. I also picked up Many Bloody Returns, which is a bunch of short stories by differnt paranormal authors. I grabbed it for the Sookie Stackhouse story. I have already read the Sookie story and was disapointed, which I kind of expected after reading her other short story in Bite, but I had to have my Sookie fix anyway. I havent read the other stories yet, but am looking forward to discorvering some good authors that are unfamiliar to me.
Jess wrote: "It was the Darkness Chosen series. I still have to read book 1. I'm not all that impressed with the series overall. Could be because I didn't read it correctly."Or it could be that it's a crappy series... lol. I didn't like those. I did read them in order, but only made it through the first two. And the second one I pretty much skimmed. And I've heard it's one of those series that gets better as it goes, so I think you should just skip the first one. It's not great.
I just finished the first 3 in the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld (Uglies, Pretties, and Specials). I really liked them and am about a third of the way through Extras. Other than that, I'm not sure what I'm reading next. I just got $45 worth of gift cards and need to decided what to buy!! :)
Nicole and Jess... I liked the Darkness Chosen series well the first three anyway but the fourth one did nothing for me. IMO The first one was ok, the second and third were better and the fourth blew chunks. Grants this is not the dark hunters, the BDB nor the midnight breed.
As I wait for April to begin all of my new challenges I decided to read a anthologies so I am reading Mean Streets and [Hotter Than Hell:].
I picked up Deadly Desire at the library today, but I picked it for the April PNR challenge, so I can't start it yet. It's just sitting there, taunting me. Grr!So I'm still faithfully plugging along at Night Embrace.
I was listening to Extras by Scott Westerfeld last night at work. But I am having a really hard time finishing it! I don't know if maybe it was just the odd mood that I was in last night or what. When I listened to the other books in the Uglies series, I couldn't stop, especially towards the last quarter of the book. I would find myself forgetting to take my breaks because I was so intrigued.Well, the first part of this book was like that for me. I loved it! The way that the society had changed and evolved just completely intrigued me. But then once they got to the "suspense" and "action" sections (or what are supposed to be suspensful and full of action) I am getting bored! This is crazy! I had to stop listening because I found that my mind was wandering too much that I didn't know what was going on anymore.
Let me put it into perspective. This book is about 12 hours long, and I have already listened to over 10 hours of it and can't bring myself to finish! This is crazy! I'm really hoping that it's just the mood that I've been in, put it aside for a day or two and hopefully I can enjoy the ending later.
