I finished On the Edge tonight and then read the excerpt from Magic Bleeds at the end of the book. Man, May 2010 can't come soon enough.

Oh, don't remind me! *squirms* I've been avoiding reading On the Edge because I don't want to be waiting for that too! LOL. At least the next Magic book won't end on such a dangling carrot, LOL. I think... I'm sure they will surprise me. xD

I'm expecting loads of drama from this one. It's going to be sooooo good. I can't wait. They seem to have stopped giving out Kate 4 snippets and are sticking with Edge 2 snippets, which while enjoyable, just aren't what I'm waiting for. But they do love to tease us along =)

message 1155: by new_user (new)

new_user Oh yes, lots of drama! I'm so glad the next book is all about them! :D Finally! I'm rewarded for my patience, LOL.

message 1156: by Laura Lulu (last edited Nov 22, 2009 01:09PM) (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I liked On the Edge, but honestly, after reading the snippet from the Magic series at the end, it completely overshadowed On the Edge for me.

It was good, but it was no Kate & Curran. :)

And last night I read their short story in Must Love Hellhounds with Andrea & Raphael. It was really good and it ended with Kate talking about her dinner with Curran the following week and it gave a couple juicy little teasers about other things to come also.

message 1157: by new_user (new)

new_user Oh yes, I have to read that short story! :D

message 1159: by new_user (new)

i expected it to be slow--like most first books tend to be but it got off to a pretty good start. it is still early to tell, but it looks like its gonna be a good one.

message 1161: by new_user (new)

new_user Oh, not as bad as most first books, that's great already, LOL. Keep me posted. ;)

Gwen (gwenmarianne) | 3 comments Halfway thru Club Dead. Once finished, I'll be starting on Dead to the World.

message 1163: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished The Devil Inside (Morgan Kingsley, #1) by Jenna Black I enjoyed it. It took me a few chapters to get past Morgan's negativity towards demons but still a good read once you get into it. It does have some S&M and M/M scenes, so if that is not your cup of tea you might not enjoy it. The scenes are nothing too extravagant and few and far between. I still enjoyed the plot and the smart writing. I am definitely adding the next book to my TBR pile! I'm now starting on Eve of Darkness (Marked, Book 1) by S.J. Day

Definitely--it's my fave. But I don't think it was my true fave until I went back and read it after I had read all the others. :)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm reading and loving Julie Garwood's books, especially the medieval Highlander books.

Can anyone recommend similar authors? Stand alone or series are fine with me.

Thanks!

Have you read Janet Chapman or Veronica Wolff? You might enjoy either of them. I haven't read Julie Garwood but both Janet's and Veronica's books have highlanders in them.

Are Chapman's the time traveller books? I'm trying to stay away from PNR (*gasp* , I know) because I tend to get pulled into other directions and I really need to be in the medieval non PNR mind-set right now.

I've heard amazing things about the series. I have most of the Highlander books that came before the Fever books, haven't read those yet either though.

Full moon rising was good! I usually have low expectations of first books in a series, but this one has a good mix of romance, action, mystery and intrigue--it caught my attention pretty much from the start. It also had a twist that I was not at all expecting. There was also a cliff hanger that reminded me of Moning's Fever series endings--though not as bad... I am looking forward to reading the next one.

Yes I think both authors have time travel in them - Sorry.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thank you for the info! I am trying to stay focused on one era right now. When my own writing project is over, then I will look into Chapman and Veronica.

How about Margo Maguire, Karen Hawkins, and Michele Sinclair? I don't think they have any PNR or time travel in their books.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Great, thank you for the names. I will check into them all.

Katie Larsen (katie006) | 19 comments I just finished Dayhunter by Jocelyn Drake. It was the second in the series. I like the action but am starting to get frustrated that there is not any kind of resolution, not even partially at the end of each book. I still feel like I just started the story. Anyone else read the rest of this series?

message 1182: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) | 97 comments Just finished Ill Wind by Rachel Caine (Weather Warden #1). I finished it in a couple of hours. Ready for the 2nd one but my library doesn't have it, so it might take a while to get (what with Christmas right around the corner and I can't seem to stop buying presents for my 2-year-old).

Anyways, reading now - Fragment by Warren Fahy, Dexter by Design by Jeff Lindsay, and Dhampir by Barb Hendee.

By the way, new_user, if you happen to read this, Foxmask was awesome!!!

message 1183: by new_user (new)

new_user Yay! Oh, I just love that book! The hero is so great. So is the heroine, for that matter. She's one of the few heroines I can actually admire and say, "I wanna be like her when I grow up," LOL. Glad you liked it, Jennifer. :)

message 1184: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished Eve of Darkness (Marked, Book 1) by S.J. Day by S.J. Day and loved it!! Her take on the Cain & Abel story was fantastic!! Great plot and spectacular writing! Two hot brothers fighting over one woman, can't beat it! I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series (I have to wait until next month, it's in one of my challenges). I'm starting on [image error]

I couldn't either - I got about 100 pages in and I just couldn't read anymore. I was forcing myself to pay attention. I'll come back later. The story started out strange and it never got better, at least in my opinion.

I love her writing, Rehvenges story was fabulous, but I'm having trouble getting into this. Maybe because I'm listening to "Cerulean Sins", by LKH right now, and my mind is obsessing on Asher and Micah. which is fine, as long as I can remember my husbands name! :)
