So jealous! i can't wait to read that book. I'm on a waiting list for it at my library and they haven't got them in yet.

Reading Shakespeare's Landlord. Getting into another Charlaine Harris series.

I love the Jill Kismet books. I think it's Saintcrow's best series.

how is this series compared to the southern vampire series?"

It's a lot darker and serious but if you like her writing style I think you'd like the Harper Connelly series. Honestly, I'll read anything she writes and I don't even like straight-up mysteries. I think it helps that it does have the supernatural aspect, but I've read the first three Lily Bard books and I like those too. I pretty much just love every character she creates.

message 1058: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished The Lovely Bones and was not that impressed, I like it in the beginning but the farther I got into the more I lost interest. I finally just skimmed the last 10 or 15 pages. There was to much fluff!

message 1059: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I finished Cerulean Sins, Incubus Dreams, Micah, Danse Macabre and am now on The Harlequin by Laurell Hamilton. My eyes were seeing double and I barely ate, but I am getting through the series!!

message 1061: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I just finished Hush, Hush and really liked it. I just picked it up today after work and finished it in about 5 hours, so I guess that classifies it as a "couldn't put it down" book. :)

It was very Twilight-y, looking back on it, she "borrowed" a lot of Twilight elements, and there were moments when the main character was too dumb to live, but I liked Twilight & am a fan of YA HEA's, so it worked for me. :)

I think that's the book I'll read after I'm done with the Anita Blake books. The book stares at me at night whispering "read me".

Carolyn F. I'm reading Skin Trade. I should have read Strange Candy because she talks about a lot of stuff happening that weren't in Blood Noir. So off today to find it so I can at least finish this series.

message 1078: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Finished Fade Out (The Morganville Vampires, #7) by Rachel Caine and loved it, just like all the others in this series! Now back to My Dead Body A Novel by Charlie Huston and then I think Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick .

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) I asked this question in another group too--so those of you seeing this again, sorry...
Who has read the Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh? I have read the first 3 and I have been waiting for Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4) by Nalini Singh [image error] but I got #6 Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling, #6) by Nalini Singh in from the library and was wondering if I could read it b4 the others come in? Will it mess up the backstory? Help!!!

message 1082: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Cherra, I just finished #2 so I can't answer with fact, but I can guess. :) You can look at the synopsis of each book and see who the couple of that book is, and since they're PNR you know they're going to get their HEA at the end, so it's not like reading #6 will necessarily ruin 4 & 5 for you when they mention so & so and his mate or whatever.

But I'm guessing it might mess up the back story about the Psy and the Council and all that jazz, kwim?

yeah, that is exactly what i was thinking...i might put it on the back burner for a few days to see if i get lucky enough to get the others...

message 1084: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I read the Singh books out of order and it really didn't mess up the storyline much for me. There may be people that are couples later that weren't couples early on - but that's about it on the storyline itself in my opinion.

yep and you know they are gonna get their HEA...

message 1086: by new_user (new)

new_user Eh, IMO, you need to read these books in order. There is an overall plot that takes place as the books go on, but if you're only interested in the romance, you probably can read them out of order.

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) new_user wrote: "Eh, IMO, you need to read these books in order. There is an overall plot that takes place as the books go on, but if you're only interested in the romance, you probably can read them out of order."

That's how I am, I need the plot otherwise I just feel silly reading them.

Eh, who am I kidding?

message 1088: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I would say that it would be better to read them in order... but it's not such a big deal if you decide not to.

Like new-user said, there is an overall plot that takes place with the psy council.. but if you really only care about the romance between the two characters that it won't matter much. You can always figure out what's going, but you won't recognize some of the mates of characters and such.

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 126 comments I just finished Terri Garey's You're the One that I Haunt, which was really good. It's a ghost/possession series with an ongoing romance. You're the One that I Haunt (Nicki Styx, #3) by Terri Garey

I'm almost done with Patricia Briggs' Blood Bound. I jumped into this series later, too, but with both, it hasn't been a problem. Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs

Next up is Ilona Andrews' newest, On the Edge!

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) I am currently reading Succubus Blues on my laptop. I have tried to get it at a bookstore and have failed. So I have gone against my better judgement, and I am reading it on my laptop. I am currently up to Chapter 10- and have only read it for about an hour.

message 1094: by Shannon (last edited Nov 08, 2009 01:09PM) (new)

Shannon (theholyterror) | 115 comments Finished both Grave Secret (Harper Connelly, #4) by Charlaine Harris and Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead last week, both 5 star books!

I started both Need (Need, #1) by Carrie Jones and Going Bovine by Libba Bray this week. Need started off kind of boring and it was hard to get into because of all the dialogue and inner monologue and no description. But then I kept reading and it got really interesting. There's these glimpses that something isn't quite right with the town and the teenagers in it. I'm really curious to find out what's actually going on.

And I have a fear of looking out windows when it's dark out, I think someone will be out there looking back in! So, there's been parts where this book has creeped me out!

I'm reading Going Bovine at work and it's really funny but I haven't gotten far yet. I'm hoping things pick up for Cameron though because his life pretty much sucks and it'll get depressing to read about if things don't change soon.

It's okay so far, nothing spectacular though.

message 1096: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) | 97 comments I've got about 7 books lying around right now trying to get read.

I started You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister. Next up is Foxmask by Juliet Marillier. Then Dexter by Design by Jeff Lindsay.I've also got Ill Wind by Rachel Caine and The Forest of Hands and Teeth. And those are just the library books!

My little boy's birthday was a few days ago, so I haven't had much time to read lately. Hoping to start catching up now with all these books.

message 1097: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished YA books Found (The Missing, #1) by Margaret Peterson Haddix and Sent (The Missing, #2) by Margaret Peterson Haddix they were both really good books!

Now I am starting Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. And then I will probably start reading the Fever series.

message 1098: by Carolyn F. (new)

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) i just finished a romance series that was pretty good by Lisa Klepas--just a cutesy no brainer to take a break from PNR for a bit.

Starting Tempted (House of Night, #6) by P.C. Cast tonight. I have been trying not to read reviews about it b/c i was excited about it--have caught glimpses of negative reviews. Hope its good!
