Karen wrote: "Which are books like the Twilight Saga, House of Night series, Morganville Vampires, Vampire Academy series etc etc...."Ahhh - i thought it was but didnt want to look daft!!!! I liked twilight saga - will admit to not reading any of the others!!!!! Also where would be the best place to start with Karen Chance - so many to choose from??
The Cassie Palmer series starts with Touch the Dark. I thought it took about 50 pages to get really going, but after that and every book following, it's awesome. Probably better to read Cassie Palmer before going to her other series, which starts with Midnight's Daughter.
Hope you like it!!
Hi everyone. I absolutely love reading books on vampires. Witches, Weres, and Faeries are right on top too. Currently I am rereading the BDB series again and just starting the Psy series that a coworker recommended. Can anyone recommend some new authors to me? I have read all of Laurell K. Hamilton, J.R. Ward, Lynsay Sands, Stephenie Meyer, Keri Arthur, Kelley Armstrong, and Kim Harrison.
Just finished listening to Storm Front. Loved it! Marsters does such a great job with the audio book!!! I've got Fool Moon ready to listen to tonight at work!Angela - if you want to check out a fantastic Young Adult series, I would recommend Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. There are currently 3 books out in the series, and the 4th one comes out this month.
Another great series (not young adult) is the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. The first book is called Moon Called. That along with the Sookie STackhouse books are 2 of my favorite series!
Claudia - Here' some of my favorites:Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series - like BDB.
Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series
Jeanine Frost's Night Huntress (loved it!)
Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series
Alexandra Ivy's Guardian's of Eternity
Alexis Morgan's Paladins series
Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series
Karen Marie Moning's Fever series
Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson series
Jennifer Armintrout's Blood Ties series
Caitlin Kittredge Nocturne City
Jaye Wells Red-Headed Stepchild
Larissa Ione - Demonica series
Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels series
Sherrilyn Kenyon's Darkhunter/Dreamhunter series
Lora Leigh's Breed series
I'm reading Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen right now and really enjoying it.

It always amazes me how LKH can right two very different leading women! I'm currenlty suffering thru Obsidian Butterfly, i'm only about 200 pages in and i'm thoroughly bored to tears! But I'll probably stick it out cuz I do want to know what the thing is killing people! Merry is so much more enjoyable to read since she doesn't have all the hang up's that Anita does! She is back to annoying me at the moment and I'm so over edward already! LOL
I get Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson) tomorrow! Yea! Getting ready to start Frostbite (Vampire Academy) and Child of Flame (Crown of Stars).
Just finished Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. OMG I love Kate Daniels. I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Thanks for the tips on the books. I am going to have to look into them. I am in desperate need of some new reading material.
Has anyone read the Kushiel's Legacy series? If so, how was it? I'm thinking about reading it, but my library doesn't have the first one. So I'll have to buy the 1st book if I want to read the series.
Ohhhh *big sigh* why do i never come across a dark hunter?????? and why do the books never last long?just bought LJ Smith's Night World - is YA and looks interesting - anyone read it - or the others in the series?

tonight at work. I like it so far and I'm curious to see how the story will play out.
I really have enjoyed the dark hunter series! Some of the books I like a lot better than others, but as a whole, it's a great series! I'm excited to read Bad Moon Rising, the newest one!
I so went to my beloved bookstore with the intention of getting Lover Avenged, but alas I had to turn away for the time being. The price was little overbearing at the moment. At least I got to enjoy about 15 min. of reading it before I had to move on. I am so hanging onto the near future of buying it to enjoy it fully.
Susan wrote: "FINALLY finished Obsidian Butterfly!! And I started Lover Unbound"Yay
I started Fairyville
I'm working on several books right now. Bad Moon Rising
Ill Wind
Fool Moon
Plus I've been relistening to the audiobooks from Moning's Fever series.
Just finished Stray by Rachel Vincent and War for the Oaks by Emma Bull. Starting several books right now (the library sent them all at once)The Dark Mirror - Juliet Marillier
Dead Until Dark - Charlaine Harris
Dearly Devoted Dexter - Jeffry Lindsay
I just finished the first Midnighters book, The Secert Hour it was alright, I will read the second book, just to see what happens.Tonight I am starting Runemarks, anybody read it?
I have my name down for 3 books at the library, Succubus Blues,The Host, and now Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris! Plus my mum just brought me The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong! Cant wait to get reading! =D
[Ahhhh, The life of a crazy book addict!:]

You'll really like "The Awakening". Kelley Armstrong is one of my favorite authors among many.

I cant wait to start reading it! But I should finish my library books first that way they dont go overdue!
What books do you all have your name on the waiting list for??
Ellen, I'm a big library junkie too, but I finally had to start making myself alternate (as much as possible) between books I own but haven't read and library books. Otherwise I'd only read library books because they all have deadlines and the books I own don't. I'm not always successful at it, particularly when I have 20ish library books out and another 15 or so on hold.
I'm really enjoying Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill. Its funny and the characters are likable, and there's a few really hot guys.

Haha. I understand what you mean! Its really tempting for me to, because The Awakening is something I really want to read, but I am just starting to get into my current library book. Lol.
Anna wrote: "I'm really enjoying Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill. Its funny and the characters are likable, and there's a few really hot guys."Ooh. Im in for a good book with hot guys! Lol. =P
I'm about 1/4 of the way through

- it's a cross between Harry Potter and Narnia, but more adult. Lots of alcohol and f-bombs thrown around so it's definitely not for kids. And even though this is very heavily influenced but the two aforementioned works, it doesn't necessarily feel like a rip-off, it's more of an homage if anything.I'm definitely enjoying it though.
I'm also still working on
, which I have to say is a lot better than the first.
I finally finished
LOVED IT!!!! So I decided to get back to Cat & Bones as i keep hearing fab things about them, so I'm just barely into
I started
a couple days ago and I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for an elves and goblins fantasy book or if it's just boring. I'm gonna try hard to stick with it though. Anybody else read this series?
I decided I needed something a little more lighthearted and fluffy than The Magicians A Novel, which I'm finally almost done with, so I started

. It's hilarious! This is so fun and it kind of reminds me of the early Betsy books, except Jane is smart and not annoying.I'm also reading Magic Lost, Trouble Found and Parallel Attraction but I think I'm going to stay with Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs for a while; it's such a quick read that I'll probably have it read it a day or two.
I just added that book Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs.. but I read the description and it just sounds similar to other books I"ve read. It reminds me of Betsy, and also another book I read but I forgot the name of it. But I'll try it out anyway.I'm going to start City of Bones soon

There's only so many ways to change it up. But I do have to say that it doesn't feel like a retread of an old idea even with the similarities. It a quick read and it's funny and I'm enjoying the characters so far.

I finished
, LOVED IT! I have to say Cat is fast becoming my fav kick a$$ vamp hunter!!! And Her and Bones are moving up my list of fav couples for sure! So now I am back to
. So many of you have said this series starts to get good in this and the next book, so I'm giving it another shot ;)
I had a really hard time with the first book, but after reading the others, I actually really enjoyed going back and rereading the first one. There were some things that made a lot more sense to me later!

I'll second that. I enjoyed the first book more the second time around because I became hungry for all those nuggets of info. Plus rereading Pritkin in his 100% hateful mode was a trip considering how far he's now come!
