The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Sorry, Sandra. Haven't heard of that author.

Merry Gentry! Can't wait for the new one later this year.

message 452: by Mary (new)

Mary | 7 comments Jennifer: The Merry Gentry books are for sure on my ever growing list of books to read!! I am quickly becoming a huge Laurel K Hamilton fan!

message 453: by Sara (new)

Sara (leelan) | 51 comments I'm 1/2way through Night Pleasures (I think) it's the second in the Dark Hunter series. Really like it so far.

message 454: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Yay, Dark Hunters!

message 455: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 60 comments I starting The Immortal Highlander

I love love love Dark Hunters. Im counting the days down till August for Bad Moon Rising!

message 456: by Sara (new)

Sara (leelan) | 51 comments I almost chucked the whole series! I started with the first at liked it but the girl giving them to me started giving them out of order. Next I read Dream Hunter. HATED IT! Someone told me to read them in order so now I am loving them. Sill though, not sure if I will finish the Dark Hunter and move to the Dream Hunter because I REALLY didn't like that book. I would read two pages and realize I had daydreamed through them.

message 457: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Sara, the Dream Hunter books on the whole are eh. But Dream Chaser is NOT to be missed and reads far more like a Dark Hunter book. I didn't love the latest, Dream Warrior, but I think it's key to the series so you'll have to read that too.

But Dream Chaser? Totally one of my favorite books of the Dark Hunter world and Xypher is HOT.

message 458: by Sara (new)

Sara (leelan) | 51 comments Okay so is Dream Chaser in the Dark Hunter series? Are the Dark Hunter series done and then they move to the Dream Hunter this is where I get confused or are the two seperate series? Oh man I am at the part in Night Pleasures where we are learning about that slut whore Theone! Hate her! I really hope she gets it.

message 459: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Okay, the Dream Hunter series, which begins with the book Dream Hunter, is printed in between the Dark Hunter books. You have to look at publication dates to get the order correct, although I think they're included in the reading order list on SK's website.

They are supposed to be their own series, but that's vastly misleading. Think of them more as supplements between the Dark Hunter books. They are mainly filler, but filler that supplies details that are important to the Dark Hunter world, but wouldn't fit into a Dark Hunter book.

she has a lot of good books. Nightseer is very good. And Strange Candy is a collection of her short stories, including the first Anita Blake story.

message 463: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) I am reading The Strain (The Strain Trilogy, Book 1) by Guillermo Del Toro , and listening to the audiobook, Small Favor (The Dresden Files, Book 10) by Jim Butcher

both are excellent so far.

message 464: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments I liked The Strain very much.

message 465: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) | 97 comments I'm reading Touch of Darkness by Cristina Dodd.

Just finished Divine by Mistake. The next book in the series (Divine by Choice) is waiting for me at the library.

I'm also reading Breaking Dawn.

AND I'm waiting for book 2 of the Crown of Stars series (Prince of Dogs) by Kate Elliot to get to the library. I read this book like 10 years ago & liked it, but didn't realize it was part of a series. So I've started back over with the 1st one. Pretty good so far.

message 466: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. I've just started the 1st one in the Morganville Vampire series "Glass Houses" and I'm enjoying it so far.
And I'm also just past half way in "Dead to the World", loving this book.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I've got the Holly Black series sitting on my shelf, getting ready to read them. I've been reading the Lily Bard series by Charlaine Harris. They are pretty fun. I'm also really excited about the new Rachel Vincent book to come out.

Ooh, I've been debating the audio books for The Dresden Files. I mean it's James Marsters for Pete's sake! The samples at audible sound good and are awfully tempting...

message 473: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I haven't read any of the Dresden Files books. Are they really good? I love audio books and am a huge fan of James Marsters so that's probably the route I'd go.

message 474: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. I've been tossing up whether to read the Dresden Files or not, let us know what you think DarkHeart.
I've heard mixed reviews.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments Hah! I'll take that challenge. ;) I own the first two, but haven't read them yet. So, I think I'll go ahead and buy a couple of them from audible and let the yumminess that is Mr. Marsters read them to me instead (he's got a great voice). My understanding is the series is great (and he does a wonderful job of narrating them), but that the first book is a bit weak.

So, as soon as I finish listening to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (which is brilliant so far, btw), I'll make a start on these and let you guys know.

message 476: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (readingfairytales) I just started Succubus Blues. So far it's good.

I've been torn on whether or not to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. P&P is one of my all time favorite books, and I just can't imagine it with zombies.

message 477: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I've been listening to the first Dresden file book with James Marsters as narrator for about three months now. It's actually not bad, I guess it just never grabbed me the way I needed it to. I will finish it eventually. But I have heard not good things about the first book, and I don't think it's as bad as all that, to be honest.

message 478: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Oakes (kellymoakes) Just finished Sherrylin Kenyon's Phantom in the night, and I really liked it. No paranormal, but some hot romance, crime and military flair.

Currently I'm reading Scent of Darkness by Christina Dodd, so far I like the way she writes. This one has Wolves and of course, hot men.

message 479: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) After hearing folks rave about dresden files, (and having seen some of the series) I gave the series a shot. I found the first three ok. I enjoyed the tie ins with the series and yet didn't see what the big deal was. Book four however drew me in. From there, each book makes the world more interesting and real to me and the jokes funnier and dresden sexier, etc.

Now I totally love reading the books and am really bummed I am coming to the end of his written stuff.

This is the first audiobook I've used on this series, and I prefer reading, but it is so nice to put a disk in and do dishes, or mop or drive or craft or.... I am enjoying it alot and the reader is very expressive. I rented mine from the library. I would do that before investing in lots of the series audiobooks. I can usually get audio books on reserve on very popular books, before I can lay my hands on the books. Wierd huh.

message 480: by Deborah (new)

Deborah I'm currently reading the Dresden Files "Turn Coat". I've read all of Butcher's books in this series. They are pretty good. But then again, I am a serial reader.

message 481: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Just finished You're the One That I Haunt by Terri Garey. It's the third book in her Nicki Styx series.

I've really liked the series so far. The main character is so sarcastic and realistic that it's fun to see how she handles ghosts appearing to her all the time, begging her to help them or making her life hell. And Garey really knows how to throw surprises and twists into her plot.

Speaking of hell, is it wrong of me to want the heroine to be with The Devil as opposed to a nice, stable doctor? Good lord, I'd succumb to temptation the way Garey writes him, evil incarnate or not. The Devil is damned hot in these books.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) OK when did the devil become part of the plot. I've only read book one and was not impressed but you maake it sound like I need to pick up book two.

message 483: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments And in book 2 is where the dear Devil shows up! He's totally yum, but I'll warn you...I thought the first book in the series was pretty good, so I'm not sure how you'll rate 2 and 3.

No voodoo in 2 or 3.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Yeah the voodoo was what I really didn't like about the book also that Nicki resembled you know who.( not giving out anymore spoilers LOL)

message 485: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Well give it another try if the voodoo turned you off. It's ghosts, and a little bit of tame witchery.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) I think I will pick up the next book maybe sometime this month if I finish my challenge books early. This Devil better be Hawt.

message 487: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Jael...uh oh! I'm feeling the pressure!

Um, maybe you should get it from the library? Tee hee.

He's hot in a cocky, punk rocker, bad boy like way.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Don't worry I just renewed my Lib card so I'll check it out. Book expense was getting to be too much. LOL

I was disappointed with that one, too. Not a great start to the series. But Rocky Flats is just up the road here, so had to read it!

I loved the early Anita books and can't stand what they've become. Hadn't read one in awhile so tried the new one, SKIN TRADE. Pretty much wasted my time.

DEAD TO THE WORLD is my absolute favorite Sookie book! An Eric without his memory is even hotter than the usual Eric!

message 495: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished One Foot in the Grave and will be starting At Grave's End tonight. I'm loving this series. Bones is HAWT!

message 496: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Jan - got to agree about Bones! He is amazing! He's come the closest to dethroning Eric as my favorite vampire!

As for what I'm reading, after seeing the preview for the movie of The Time Traveler's Wife, I've decided that I need to read that book!

message 497: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Kelley Anne - The Time Traveler's Wife is my absolute favorite book of all time. I love it, I've read it three times, and have been scouring the net for news about the movie for months, years even. I saw the preview last weekend and I have to say... nothing in that preview happened in the book. I'm actually really worried...

message 498: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) Hi everyone!
Atm I am reading The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong, and then next will most likely be Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments Melodie wrote:...Oh, I DO love the audio Dresden Files books!! James Marsters has got to be the best reader ever!! "

I'm with you there. I just finished the first one and have quickly jumped to Fool Moon. James just has such a great voice, and as he's an actor, he's really good at bringing emotion to the various roles. Brilliant stuff!

message 500: by LooLoo (new)

LooLoo Hi! I'm new to GR and this group. I just finished reading Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series and really enjoyed it. I also finished At Grave's End and loved that whole series. Can't wait till the next one comes out in a few weeks. I do love Bones!
